We had the local golf club complex burn down, but everyone out here (Horsham, Vic) is safe. Had a little flare up last night about 4am but it was miles out of town. The weather was ****ing unreal that day… We had 50+kph (35mph) winds on a 48C (118F) day! It was like a hairdryer outside. We had a small gumtree come down, just from the wind and heat!
Good advice bigmike! I’ll have a go at contacting Aaron, all I have is his name though. If anyone has any contact details for him try and let him know!
Can you contact your bank or paypal for your money back bigm? THEY might be able to at least let him know his store is still taking orders he can’t (for whatever reason) fill…
3 pin servo D-Dave?
I’m not sure what else we can cover…? From what I have read $75 for a first gen Xmod is a good price, but you are still stuck with non-hobby grade electronics, cheap plastic parts, no upgrades, no support in Australia or Asia, dying support for mods, etc, etc, etc… The DPL has most of those limitations, but is 5 years newer and if you watch the videos it looks like MAD fun! Check out Youtube for video of a stock Xmod, I haven’t even been able to find any… Best of luck either way man!
From what I have seen of Xmod they aren’t that much more serious. If you can get a hold of one these days, (the only way to get one in AUS was to get a Yank member send you one) it is going to cost you ALL of your $120 and it will be only a little better than toy-grade. I reckon Mini-Z tyres will fit on the TTDP if you get sick of drifting, either one you will want to add M-Z electronics to after 12 months or so…
Don’t make me buy one just to prove a point 😀
BTW Welcome to the forums man, I have been weighing this exact same idea up in my head for a few months now… Solved now, bought a 3ch Heli… 😀
I haven’t had an Xmod, but only because they never got released in Australia. The last I-waver I had had the dodgiest electronics I have ever used… They came good on 3.6 volts though…
On the other hand I have had a few Tomy and a few Takara cars, and they have all been great fun. I reckon there are probably hop ups out there for the Drift Package if you hit up Google…
Just my $0.02…
You are probably best off looking around for a “Takara Tomy Drift Package” car… I haven’t tried one or even seen them in person, but you could get 2 for the money you are looking to spend, and they MIGHT tide you over until you can afford to drop the cash for a Mini-Z AWD…
Pulled the rear end apart. The screws were just over tightened, this car seems to just like the screws just barely tightened… I messed up the motor running it in so I am going to go looking for 130 motors around town. Hopefully find a Tamiya 1/32-style car with a dune buggy looking shell…

wtf is INOX?
I do know of water break in for motors tho.I love your steering description lol
Use double sided tape if you want something a little more robust. If I’m gauging your personality correctly, I reckon you’d pull the gearbox apart regardless hehe (I know I would..) . Better to find dirt in there than a broken gear tooth.
Bloody Klims rained on my parade re the diecast build lol.. guess he had the same thoughts of a big heavy Datto performing long 2WD drifts..
here’s some more dots coz I like using them so much ………
INOX is (from memory) lanolin based lubricant-y stuff. Pretty much like WD-40 but a bit oil-ier… I’m not sure breaking in in water is the best way or only way, but I have consistently had solid improvements from it, even at this scale.
I don’t think anything is broken in the gearbox, I am PRETTY sure I have just over-tightened a screw, and that is causing the binding (that’s the word I was looking for yesterday…)

I was too busy laughing at the bike seat that says “WOMAN TUNED” …
Haha, thats my Mrs’ bike! I was feeling too:big:slack too move it!
The results are VERY good, with the 3 AA’s shown in the pics, it does 8 kph on the Tamiya dyno… 3 AAA NiMH’s are faster again. Even though the servo is only blue-tac’d down, the steering is still REALLY good, it sort of wallows around, but it doesn’t feel bad at all, you just constantly correct for it…
The only real flaw I have found is that if the gearbox stops in a certain place it won’t be able to drive away again… That doesn’t read very well, but I can’t think of a better way to explain… I am going to pull the rear end apart after the weekend and look for any crap in there. I’m going to run in the motor too, I had good results from running the OL’s motor in, just have to buy some INOX…
I only have my phone camera for filming, but I’ll get a video of it if people want to see…
I LOVE the A-Team Lunch Box!
Yeah these things are proper tiny, and after running it, it is WAY over powered with 3 cells. I can’t even drive it on out wooden floors, it just donuts around… The detail is VERY good, shame about the photos. I’ll try to get some better ones this weekend. Not much room for mods or anything. The circuit board is soldered to the battery terminals, holding the motor-pod closed.
I’ve been out and about today and seen some 1:43 scale Ferraris, some 1:24 (more like 1:30ish) Ferraris and some Tamiya q-steers at Leading Edge here in Horsham…
For my overland…
Meyer Manx dune buggy
Subaru Brumby/BratMy first thought was “Holden Apollo”???
I have actually seen them in the new “Super Toy Sale” catalog. They run at AU$19.95, save $20… WB is a bit bigger than a mini-z. I’ll try to con the mrs into one tomorrow…
Forum necromancy!
I would recommend just trying 130 motors you have kicking around if you don’t plan on racing. My favourite motor came out of a knock-off Tamiya 1/32 slot car. Admittedly I am after a slow, torque-y motor, but I am sure there would be a better ones around. Have you done any suspension tuning? I had a fetted MR01 a few years ago with a Plasma Dash in it and it spent more time upside down than right way up :smiley12:.
There was a prototype F15 with front canards and vector thruster built in the late Nineties that I had plastered all over my school books…
That Lightning looks spectacular
That has got to be a record for a re-animated thread…
BRAINS… BRAINS… BLEARGH!!!That is awesome man. I have always wanted to load up on little 2ch planes and build all my favourites… P-38 Lightning would have been been first, but A-10 would have been second…
wow…
Save the shrink for v4.0HAHA! My mates and I showed up, after a 45 minute drive, at 3:30pm. No one was there by then, I hadn’t even brought any cars, my charger is cactus. Anyway, it was a good excuse to have a beer in Fitzroy…
Me and a couple of my mate should be there…
Nah no steps, just on/off. The controller is like a miniture Char-g controller.
I was hoping the 4th axis was time…
