Site Owner Guy.Pretty much as what Pete posted. The Spider is OK to about 20v, but in the electrical sense the Mini-Z board designs (iWaver or Kyosho) aren’t. And the boards need to drive the FETs properly to give the best results.
If you provide a regulated 6v to the board (yes 6v regulators exist) and run 7.2v LiPo/Lion packs it will work, just watch out for Heat.
Honestly you should be able to get satisfying performance on 4cells (add a 5th cell if using rechargeables if you really want some more punch) twiddling with gearing etc…

Site Owner Guy.The PN S05NM motor is perfectly safe on the stock FETs as long as you don’t overload it too much by locking up the axle and holding the throttle on etc.
We have these motors in stock along with Overland Bearing sets in the shop. In my opinion the bearings and the NM will make the Overland a good fun truck, and the great news is that if you break things we do have spares in stock, and overall haven’t found any particular parts to be ‘must replace with alloy’ unlike the Monsters.
Overlands are mucho cheaper than Monsters in that sense.

Site Owner Guy.mmm Just did a run with the PN Batts and a early prototype Spider for a rock steady 34km/h repeatable with ease.
Not a great improvement over the stock FET run but an easy couple of kph over the Stock FETs.
I’ll be Testing with an eensyweensy next…

Site Owner Guy.I can’t help with the V2 Turbo question… but on the leg soldering I can.
When stacking them you need to keep the input leads seperate. While on the output you only need to keep the positive and negative pairs seperate.
I link the pairs on the output so there’s two thick line sof solder heading up the stack. I do this becuase it’s physically tougher, which means the FETs are more strongly held in place. The greater mass of solder gets some extra heat away from teh FETs as well. The other reason is its easier and quicker to to do it. quicker soldering means less heat exposure for the FETs and that’s a good thing. Generally I do the output sides first and then do the fine work on the input side.

Site Owner Guy.Quick answer: Yes the cobo will be fine as long as (and this goes for all turbos) you don’t overheat the thing by running too hard, locking up wheels etc etc.
There isn’t really much available in terms of gears, you can get Titanium intermediate gears, but only delrin on the diff side (on a Ball diff) and the motor side some alloy gears fit but the plastics are fine and often a better choice becuase the motor mount doesn’t allow much scope for size changes.

Site Owner Guy.In my opinion you don’t need to ‘run in’ any motor unless you’re dead set 100% serious about racing. However it doesn’t hurt. For the most part you can simply mount the motor, and run it for about 15 minutes on a single AA battery …. Ofcourse everyone has different methods and approaches and mines fairly simple. I belive running in becomes more critcal when you get to the physically bigger classes of motors (like 1/10ths)

Site Owner Guy.Did some work again. We’ve ditched the iWaver alloy spring set at the rear, gone for the simpler mono (oil) shock.
I’ve also started the process of giving the girl a new heart… (see pic)
We’re using Hot-Shoe to test EensyWeensy – hopefulyl when combined with an Anima we’ll be moving at a decent speed 🙂

There’s a few differing opinions on the ‘What narrow shells fit’ out there. It’s not like I have a shortage of shells 🙂
Your prices are quite good, and if you’ve managed your order sized OK you won’t get hit for duty and tax (which ausmicro.com as a business ALWAYS must pay) otherwise you’ll get about a 11%-12% increase in cost 🙁

Site Owner Guy.Wanna know something interesting? US RRP is going to be about USD240 apparently. Thats a MASSIVE AUD$330ish…. Damn scary, if they get officially imported here they’re going to be mega $$
Some places online are still selling ‘pre-orders’ for cheap but quantity and actual delivery could be interesting.
I’m getting my batch second level through a wholesaler in Japan and they are costing me very close to Japanese RRP (then I have to add freight, Duty, GST and my on-cost for the transactions) but I’m ensured to have them at the launch time. The cheaper you get offered the less likely you are to see them around the 1st of Dec.
Anyway – mainly posting here to gloat that I’m got myself a Chassis set coming in just for me (someone snapped up the Readyset I did have my eye on….). Hopfully the Chysler 300C shell will be riding atop it, a PN Anima and a FET job 🙂

Site Owner Guy.Yellow 575GTC arrived today along with the red 360GTC. I think I lik ethe 360 better in both red and yellow…. Much sleeker look although the 575GTC is much more menacing. Shoudl be listed in the shop in the next day or so along with a bunch of other bits andpieces.
