the steering works fairly well, but i’ll add another or stronger spring and that should sort it out. there’s very little play with the front wheels because i installed some tiny eyelets that fit the front wheel pins beautifully. can’t do the lawn, it’s just too small, but it would go over a bowling green no probs. i’ve driven on brick paving and the road out front without a problem. and it’s great fun when you park it over an anthill and floor it! look at that dirt fly!! it’s got a 2.6 and still runs at the speed it was going pre mod. the nimh batt adds a little more power i think, but i can’t verify that with fact, it just looks that way. if you look at the pics you’ll notice there’s two screws directly under the battery. i’ve screwed them into the battery terminals, and charge it through them:8ball:

well i’ve ironed out some final bugs and got this little baby running sweet! revised the spring mount, sorted the steeringand decked it out with the 200mah nimh batt and hummer shell i scored from trackmaster (thanks again tm!). i moved the front tab up a bit and glued some foam on the inside so it mounts by gripping the sides of the chassis. i have to thank ph2t for that last tip, and it works perfectly!:D it’s the simple things that often work best. i’ll add lights next and make a custom charger. the two spring screws near the rear screw into the battery terminals, so that’s where i’ll charge from.

well if you weren’t there, and i know you weren’t, then you weren’t there! me ph2t an’ leonli hooked up and talked bit’s for a while and bored the crap outta the people leon and ph2t brought along! digital photography doesn’t do justice to ph2t’s bits, awesome in the flesh. now i can tell my grand kiddies “i saw the knightrider bit once…”! leon had a couple of impressive way fetted screamers, just wish we had more time to see ’em lay silicon!:D

yeah, just look in bcg forums. there are zz owners in oz but not many, so if you ask a question someone will have an answer. and alot of this info translates well across all micro rc’s anyway:8ball:

while it looks great, i’m a lot happier with doing it with an enertec as it’s easier to do and you don’t remove the stock charging plate. also relocating the batt in the tomy was a pain. as i’ve lengthened the wheelbase, shells will need heavy modding to fit. remember, the rear tab is moving now. it would be far more difficult to do without the lengthening. high speed handling is a dream on the rough concrete and it even handles bitumen. still a little fine tuning to do but otherwise a very successful mod.:8ball:
i don’t mind the slow turning function for normal hooning but in technical and rough terrain it would be nice to have boost while turning. so whatta ya reckon micro, up for the challenge? i’ve got a couple i’d like modded!:8ball:
i’ve made a start on this mod with a tomy bcg and it seems pretty easy to do. one prob is i’ve had to cut through the charging terminals on the chassis so i’ll have to think about how to do it. i might add a little socket instead. i also may have to move the internals around, not sure yet. i’m going to lengthen the wheelbase a little to improve high speed handling and so there’s some room for the spring to flex. i may even go nuts and make a steel spring shock and mount it a la miniz! i’m confident it can be done. i’m also customising some more lego wheels as the cherry on top!! i’ll be taking pics and make a new topic:8ball:
