The only part that i would say *IS* solid is the drivetrain. The front of the car is very succeptible to damage.
Quote:hey all….
i should be recieving my hopper 2 soon….
and from waht ive heard its a solid car….i dont think its really fragile……im sure it could take a beating….if it was looked after propley….the one im getting is near new….only thee body is a bit scratched
cheers
danYes wills, mr. Dawson goes to my school (Newstead College)
Daniel, the GH2 isnt solid at all. Wills (PandaBear) and I know only too well how un-durable it is.
:dead:
Barrelll, check ur PM’s
Quote:Jamie: since when can u even get clsoe to drift on sandpaper.. it blows dudeI never said anything about drifting……
Yeah i know weve seen it but nobody posted the pics so i thought i would:)
I am definately getting one, (expecting a SBCG in a few days) how much do they cost dave??
Shock horror i spelt Ferrari wrong blackeye::shock:
Its an addiction isn’t it…..
I have heard that a matched pack can be worse than loose bought cells.
You can get a pack of matched ‘duds’ too.
The other issue that this mod adresses:
NiMH batteries will have less performance if they are fully discharged, and the Rx in the car will fully discharge the battery, damaging it.
This will leave a small charge in the battery and promote longer battery life and better performance.I am quite surprised that these tiny chips can supply .2A, thats quite a bit for an SMD chip.
I am a bit worried about using those tiny watch batteries with them though, they struggle to supply the current, and an inverter would of course draw a fair bit to get the 5v or so.
i.e to get 200mah @ 5V out put probably requires around 600mah input.Whatabout using fine grain 1200-1600 grit sand paper? It would simulate real ashphalt.
Mine seems to go further than that, i could drive it down the street for ages before it was possessed by satan.
Now That I know what to do, all the tricks and stuff to get it right, i rekon i could give it a shot Josh. My car ain’t flying cause the servo gear is broken again and I don’t have my plasma dash motor yet.
GT, i didnt have any problems with the stack getting hot, i just checked all the connections with a Multimeter and its all sweet.
I work at McDonalds LOL.
Dave what sort of bike do you have??
Quote:The circuit is pretty much this:
There’s also a 330Ohm resistor in series with the LED’s. The LED’s are wired in parallel.
The dcdc convertor is from http://www.onsemi.com . It’s the NCP1402 model, 5V version. I got the pcb design in CircuitMaker 2000 format. I’ll post it tonight.
Parts List:
Cin=10uF
Cout=47uF
Diode=schottky type (Low Vf)
L1=47uH
U1=NCP1402 (5V)ph2t.

Ah okidoki, might get a few of those lil buggers, how much are they?
From looking at the specs, it handles a fair bit of dough, 200mah, more than enough to power a bcg motor.
Tell me about breakages, my Old tamiya GH2 fitted with a 14×2 motor would barely last the 10 minutes of battery power without being a hippy and hugging the trees. Its a fragile thing and parts are scarce.
Ahhh this brings back memories of the olden days, any of u guys remember “Something big is just around the corner” ??
LOL u guys are old.
DGS: WTF about the bogan thing? I is lost.
I got mine right first go 🙂 I found that if you glue them in a stack, then place a zip tie around them, it makes soldering easier.
An idea for a simple heatsink…use a piece of solder wick, soaked in solder, and solder it onto the 3 common outputs. Makes the job easier.Remove the big block thing on the pcb (the black thingo) and solder on the stacks.
Be careful desoldering the chips, i managed to lose 2 pcb pads and man it was a headache, i had to retrace the Tracks on the pcb and solder flying wires.
I heard that a modded mini z will smoke a mini x but a mini z has more potential. The clear chassis looks very fragile too.

Quote:Thanks for the link z-beam. Man I wish I had a WRX that did that. It would be great during rush hour:evil:.Oh god yeah, you could literally whoop other cars asses 👿
I have a few pics id like to put on my gallery….like my porsche GT3 with headlights and rainbow neons….
Dude thats awesome, that pcb is teeny.
From what i can see the PCB just has a pair of SMD caps and the voltage inverter.
What is the code on the DC-DC inverter, i have about 3 PCB’s lying around that i might get stuck into 🙂
Nice work, I thought if you could get DIP switches in single form it would be great, never knew they could be sawn 🙂
That wire you used looks just a bit high resistance for me, but great mod anyway 🙂
