GT-ahh got to love a runaway car:) 50 m should be good enough:D and 100 m is just insane:shock:. Jamie do you any delay in signal at that range? or is performance still responsive?

Yes there is a delay Impreza, however it’s only a few millionths of a second or so, so you would not notice anything 🙂

My track was about 16cm wide. Had lots of twisty bits, and vaseline on some of the corners :D:D with a 3.0 you could actually do big ass drifts and not spin out 👿

BUT…….its still a crappy lil’ surface mount chip….im talking about a larger mosfet with a heatsink etc. That can handle alot of power.

R/C cars run on nitro anyway, so i dont think nitrous would give a huge power boost, maybe in petrol engines but not glow engines.

Is the motor length slightly shorter?? Perhaps there is no current getting to the motor.
To fix this bend the metal contact (that connects to the motor endbell) to the left a bit.

Also the small contact on the motor should face the 3 O’clock position, i.e. the little tab closest to the rear of the car.

skateboard synthetic oil is the best in my oppinion, the graphite powder has some nasty health side affects…:dead:……. one drop of synth oil is more than enough

Still, the skater lube manages to pick up dust and dirt…..and there is no health side effects with the graphite powder if you do it properly, its basically the same as pencil ‘lead’.

jamie ill give the graphite powder a go cheers

I warn you, it can be messy…..only apply it to the idler gear…i.e. take the idler gear off, and rub it in the carbon, then replace it. Do this outside as it can get messy.

I am sure there is one that is suitable for the job out there somewhere.

I’ve done a 6×2 FET stack in my car, haven’t tested it yet…..but it does work.

I think rather than using a stack of 20 FETs you should look at using a larger MOSFET…..

L337_krew, jaycar 5mm 7000MCD white leds are the bomb, just remove the headlight covers, take out the fake plastic bulb and drill out the hole to accomodate a 5mm LED. An LED needs 3.5 volts to operate, any less and they dont glow very bright, any more and they blow.

If the Leds are connected in parallel, a resistor is needed to drop the voltage to 3.5 volts, i cant tell you off the top of my head, but its probably about 20 ohms or so, not sure tho will get back to you.

The headlights will dim quite alot under acceleration, so i recommend using an 80Mah 3 cell mini battery pack from jaycar(10 bucks or so). This will keep the LEDs glowing at a constant brightness.

Rightio, i thought the PCB could only handle 5 volts, and what does ‘hulls’ mean?

Yeah mine has about 80-100metres of range after fixing it 🙂 By the time the car is that far away, it is prettymuch invisible.

It was $600AUD so about $400ish in US dollars.

Yeah it is the PCB, cause it makes the charger think that the battery is faulty, because batteries don’t normally ‘self discharge’ while charging.

Are your foams glued on?? Cause my GPM 10 degree soft tyres fall off when they hit about 40km/h or 25mp/h.

Often wider tyres can be a problem, something to do with downforce vs tire contact area.
