A car-dom. hehehe.
I have the same problem with getting stuck under the fridge. Got a 350Z shell all scratched up over the bonnet.
Let us know how you go on this one.
:)uAScored an X-box, (amongst other things) so you will probaly see less of me now :approve::p…….just kidding.
:DuAYeah, I’ve got both of those models, the Altezza and the Unisia Skyline. Nice detail in the cars, I think they are dual cells, propo, reasonably quick, but they have that dreaded ‘run-on’ when they go out of range.
All this is from memory as I havent used them in a while, they went sraight into the collection.
:)uAThe sand scorchers were good because being a beetle body, if they flipped, 9 out of 10 times they ended up on their wheels again.
:)uANice mower ph2t, I hope you got her some pots and pans for Christmas, lol.
:)uAThat battery can probably go in the bin, so can the speed controller and the resistor on top of the gearbox, it is the thing that supplies the ‘half’ speed in the 2 stage speed controller.
Where’s the lid for the controls box?
With a decent ESC, some good batts, receiver and servos, youve got the basis for a car that is a goer.
:)uAQuote:What is better? Adding an extra magnet or adding extra coils? Which one will create a greater force of pull?To increase the magnetic flux you need more current through the coils.
Either a higher voltage on the same coils (a la dual cell) or replacing the coil with one wound in thicker wire, so the reduced resistance draws more current.
The steering coils are around 15 ohms. You might even consider steering fets as they will take another 0.7ohm out of each steering circuit, and switch quicker than the original bj transistors.
You might even find that peeling off some windings from an original coils will increase the current going through it. But at the same time the reduced amount of windings will reduce the field strength because each winding adds to the coils magnetic strength. So that one is a trade off.I’d go for a dual cell booster pcb, triple steering springs, and high gears (12:1) and you should have one fun machine.
I have a dual cell with triple steering springs and steering fets, it screams in a solid dead straight line and corners very well too.

P.S. Nice work Ph2t, I like the look, might have to add this project to the list for the new year. I know of those wheels, I think I have one of those buggies in my bits box as well, I think it was about $4.Thats strange because there arent any fets actually in circuit until you press one of the drive buttons on the controller.
Which 2 fets did you fry?
(This is one of your own fet modded pcbs right?)
:)uAOk, here’s some of the interchangeability as I know it, there may be more, and this is for a standard ZZ not the SE.
Motors – yes
Rear axel/gears – yes
single cells – yes
controllers – yes, but fwd/rev is reversed:)uA
We had a little bit of a hack/crash problem.
Yes, Merry festive season to all that are here, regulars and guests.
May you have a wonderful time with friends and family, and enjoy the holiday break.
We want a full rundown of what was received and comprehensive reviews so that the rest of us can be green with envy.
About 20 hours to go (Australian time)….and counting.:DuA
Only one sleep left, yippeee.
The milk and cookies are already out.
:DuAMemories come flooding back for me.
That was the one that started it all for me.
I remember it being almost totaly waterproof as all the rc gear was in a clear box. Had never ending speed controller problems with it though because it had a ‘contacts’ type ESC. It would have benefitted with an electronic ESC but they just werent around back then.
I dont know how easy it will be to get parts, but be careful of the rear wishbones, they are brittle and I broke a few jumping with this car.
Heaps of fun though, ancient now, but still heaps of fun.:)uA
You were right the second time ph2t.
High number = slower speed, higher accel.
:)uAIt sounds like you have a wiring problem, and yes, rewiring may show up the problem. It sounds odd that something is getting hot but only when charging. Something is not right, either there is a short circuit on the board, or you have a solder blob touching somewhere it shouldnt be.
Let us know what you find.
:)uAGoodluck, but I am a bit doubtful it will be the gauge of wire. Even the tiny stuff can carry plenty for the tiny motor.
:)uASo how did it go guys?
:)uAI’m probably in that boat too, if you count the other ‘toys’ as well.
Ahhh, who cares, its all good fun. I’ve spent heaps on ‘bits’ but I still enjoy them. Like you say, they can be heaps of fun with a few mates and a few beers. They cant control then when they are stone sober.:)uA
Thats what I was thinking but I dont know the pugs well enough to put a model number to it.
:)uAMerry Commercialism everybody, and Happy New posessions. :p
Doesnt really sound right.
:)uAIt reminds me of the Honda Jazz, or Fitt as it is called in some countries.
:)uAYou are using a super BCG arent you.?
PD, its a piss off really, because whenever I see something on TV that I might say, “Hey that would be a good idea for…..” I have to bite my tongue, becuase I know its all done.
Oh well, I’m sure it will be good whatever it is.
:)uAThats different, it does look like an Echo, but if it came with Martini decals….I’m starting to think it might be some kind of Peugot (sp?).
What do you guys think, I know there are a few Pug fans out there.
:)uAYeah, heaps. Got a rather large collection. I’d rather not think about the $$ that have gone into it, prefer to spend my time tinkering and playing with them, when I’m not here of course.
I reckon Trash will probably top us all, he has a huge toy collection
:)uAYes, the wind chill factor must be terrible, betcha he’s got thermals on under there as well/
