Well he had to get the 14.3 quintillion joules of energy from somewhere, so it came in the form of calories sponsored by Coke, good on coke !!

Lucky Pepsi didnt get in on the act, he’d be red white and blue (well he kind of is anyway, so to speak)

Hmmm dunno yet, seriously I have no idea. I wasnt even allowed to make a list this year. “All taken care of” was the response I got, and that was months ago.
So its a case of wait and see for me.
I have been good this year though

Some planes would be good, tiny ones you could fly indoors.
And propo control would be tops too.

Ph2t and VDM, you are both right, but I am going to stick with the original here I think.
BCG for me. They seem the best for modding, and not just for speed mods.

    Or forehead. *ouch*
I saw a guy once walking down the street continuously slapping himself in the face, some kind of nervous reaction.
Not gently either, he was going for it.

Well all those figures seem totally feasible to me.
I dont know what you guys are finding so funny, it happens every single year so its obviously not a problem for him.

You probably need an area of a few square meters to run the thing around on.

I dont really know why the “powers that be” on MRRC have the ‘agro’ that they dish out to every body. Why bother with all that crap?. A hobby is to be enjoyed, not to be disciplined about.
I got a taste of this ages ago and havent really been back since.
I also get the feeling that MRRC will suffer in the future (in terms of member numbers) if they continue to waste their time , and members time, by dishing out BS orders that dissapoint and piss off their members.
OTP, welcome, your experience and time here are an asset to us, but remember we are here to enjoy ourselves not start arguments.

I have just been given the plans to 2 tiny micro helis, both made from balsa and depron (foam). Now both are rubber powered and very basic but do fly well as I have seen one of them in action.
The next step in the evolution of the bit heli is to use the parts from a BCG to keep some sort of control of it.
    Upcoming project I think.

The chip in your charger is getting hot because the cells are trying to draw about 700mA upon initial connection, and your charger can only deliver 300mA, therefore overload results in shutdown.
I charge triple cell cars with 9 volts, the series load resistor limits current to about 700mA and they are on the charger for around 2 minutes. But you need to be careful because a voltage that high, connected incorrectly, will fry your cells reasonably quickly.
You might want to try a 9v battery to charge your quad cells as well. Remember + to +, and – to -.

3&1/2 minutes is way too long, the cell has boiled inside and the electrolyte has leaked out. That electrolyte is corrosive, so clean out the chassis tub on your car or the battery contacts will corrode and stop conducting.
A simple way to to use a 3v power supply to charge BCGs is to use a series load resistor. A 2 ohm 5 watt resistor in series with the positive wire that is connected to the battery will trim down the initial charging voltage and make the charging current a little more constant throughout the charging period.
I would guess not more than 2 minutes, but when you first charge this way, monitor the cell temperature, once you have a noticible MINOR rise in temp, then thats enough. Check the charging time (in seconds), and use this time for charging from then on.
Its not the scientific way to charge a NiCd or NiMh, but it will do. Those litle cells are pretty robust, although once they leak the are on a quick path to death.

    Yep, all good info Trash.
Getting rid of that ‘eagerness to fly’ is the hardest thing af all.
For a new or unfamiliar plane, if the trees are moving AT ALL, turn around and go home.
    Gotta love the micro planes.

Does that ufo have steering control as well, or is it just a hoverer? Looks interesting.
I see you’ve got a chopper, have you mastered that one as well?
Just to be king of the kids (in terms of toys) it looks like I am going to have the company of a Sony Aibo ERS-7 from next year, woof woof, cant wait.

In what way Imprez, are you thinking of a potential mod there?
I dont think it actually controlls the leds, its just a spot that the leds connect to, the pcb turns the lights on when you drive.
