Should buy one surfmystrat, and do a reveiw of it for us.
I was in Toys’r’us the other day and saw an r/c mini cooper and I swear it was 3 feet long, 1&1/2 feet wide and a foot tall. You could just about sit on it hehehe. Wouldnt want that one crashing into my foot, might break an ankle.
I dont know what scale it was, but it was BIG.

how the hell are you gonna race those, you would need to take a pitstop every time a call came in (lol).
I do like the F1 cars tho…..wonder if those can be modded to run on BCG frequencies….Hmmmmm

Thats interesting, so that means when you ‘feel’ the car starting to go flat you still have enough power left to get back to you for a charge.

No wait Jamie, a dual cell FET mod car is EVEN MORE AWESOME, let me tell you.
And I AM NOT INTERESTED in doing internal dual cell mods for people.
If people want a balistic dual cell FET modded bit, send the chassis to me first for the FET mod, then to Jamie to have it dual celled, easy.

There you go Jamie, back in business again.
If anybody asks me if I will do a dual cell, I wont except in very unusual circumstances, instead I will pass them on to you.

    Welcome back DaveF.
The booster is an even better mod than a single speed. The high speed motors love this mod and its good to be able to run around on low(?) speed and hit boost and watch it zip by.
I have just finished an internal dual cell FET booster mod and it is even crazier. Pulls wheelies and drifts like you wouldnt believe.
Lots of fun hitting boost half way thru a corner and watching it drift out then recover.

So if they advise you of impending downtime are you able to let us know as well?

    Quote:
we expect it to be carried out within the next 7 days and is expected to take approx 24-48 hours.

Or is that all you (and we) get?

If it is, its a bit shabby.

Is running at 2.4V determental to the motors??

Perri, it is but only if you run them non stop for a full battery.
They seem to handle lots of stops and starts alright tho.
If you want to kill a motor, try running it flat out on a running treadmill, it will die eventually.

Also I have never soldered batteries before anyone got some tips?

dremmel a little clean spot on each end of the cell. Make sure soldering iron is up to temp.Pre-tin the wire to be soldered, then solder onto the end of the cell as quickly as possible, try not to heat the cell up too much. Heat will damage the cell and melt the heatshrink coating.
I havent seen a multi cell mod that uses contacts. I think the cells would move if you crashed into something.
Goodluck, let us know how you go.

yeh, I have some 4.0 motors, mine are the ones with the yellow end cap. They were pretty low in torque, but once I started running them in one of my FET modded cars they scream. I think a standard pcb isnt able to deliver enough current to them. Anyway, I like them.

Yeh, I’d be interested to know how you found the quality of the LXX compared to the Tomy.
Particularly the steering which is where the clones usually fail badly.

I read somewhere that putting a thin coat of rubber cement (glue) on the rear tyres with your finger and letting it dry gives excellent traction. When it gets all dusty and dirty, you just peel it off and put a new layer on.

BUT ph2t, the RX2 chip runs off the 3V regulator, not off the supply voltage. So if the regulator can take over 6V then the RX2 chip is protected by the regulator.
I have charged triple cell bits at 9v and run them whilst on the charger, and it doesnt seem to effect them, so the regulator must be good for up to 9V at least.
You just need to be careful of cap C11, it says 6.3V in the circuit diag, but is 10V on the pcbs.
    Worth a check first.

Loenli17, I agree with Jamie, the pcb will be ok, but long runs at 3.6V will definitely kill your motor. (I killed 5 in one night on a running treadmill.)
Keep it to short runs, or if you are modding a booster chassis, drive around ‘unboosted’ for a while between bursts to let things cool down, then it should be fine.

Ive got a dual cell booster chassis in the workshop at the moment for a FET mod.
And a dual FET, and a 3.6v(internal) booster on the drawing board as well.

I am already taking orders do this MOSFET mod for people if they want.
The first car is on the workbench right now.
I am starting a new thread under “BCG Discussion” for people to go to if they want to discuss getting this mod done and prices, its here Getting the BCG FET mod done

Technical discussion (mainly) in this thread, from here on.
If you have liked what you have seen, and would like me to do this mod for you, please go to the new thread and we can arrange things from there.
If you have a technical post about this mod, please continue to post in this thread.

Be careful redrilling off center, its soooo easy to do and then the rims are ruined, trust me I’ve been there.
This is messy, but it works…..
Perhaps try it without glue first so you know how much paper it will take.
    1. Mix up some epoxy, 5 minute stuff if you think you can work quickly.
    2. Get some cigarette papers, “Tally Ho” or something like that.
    3. Dip the end of the axel in the epoxy and start winding on the paper onto the end of the axel.
    4. Keep the paper wet with epoxy as you continue to wind it on until the axel is big enough to fit snuggly in to the larger hole in the wheel.
    5. Trim the glue soaked paper and squeeze the larger axel into the hole in the wheel.
    6. Check it is centered and leave the whole thing to set.
You will probably need to trim again once the glue is dry, use a sharp hobby knife or a scalpel.

You should end up with a wheel on center on your BCG axel.
If you’re not carefull, you will get glue EVERYWHERE, its hard not to doing this mod this way.
For front wheels with holes too big, I have seen a small sleeve made of brass tubing put through the center of the wheel to reduce the internal diammeter to the same as the front axel pin.

Anyway thats what I know of. I’d be very interested to find out other ways of adapting wheels to suit BCGs…..

Yeh , they are the ones.
I’ve bought a few with the intention of putting a modified BCG chassis into them, they look hot.
Havent got around to it yet, but that day will come.

Can anyone buy a booster BCG with controller for me and put both dual battery and FET mod on it. Then give it to me? If u can, how much will the total cost.

I did have some prices listed here but I have decided not to do dual cell mods. If you want a car dual cell modded then perhaps you could send it to JamieKulhanek and then to me for the FET mod.

Talldude, I will start another thread on this soon for people that are interested. I will of course test them all before posting them back. I have left you a PM.

If there is enough interest, and people are serious about having it done, I will start doing some.

Talldude, I may start a thread later offering to install MOSFETs into peoples cars just to see if there is any interest.
It wont cost that much, the FETs are cheap, and I dont mind doing the tiny soldering for people that are keen to enjoy these cars.
I guess $20 including postage back to the owner will do.(in Oz, more postage for OS).
I suppose if people were to send me a bare chassis and 20 bucks in a post pack I could mod it and send it straight back to them in the same packet. Turnaround would be a day or two.
But I need to see if there is any interest.

I just converted 3 of my boosters to FET driven. With a 3.8 motor on boost now they scream, AND handle well.

hehehe, that is an old pic, and only put into the gallery to see how things work. It will have a foam stopper to keep the car in place in the final version.
