Hmm… I just bought a holepuncher on the weekend… and hey, my new AutoScale parcel just arrived today. Woohoo, spare set of wheels too. 😀
Standard is 6t pinion I think.
Larger pinions give higher top speed but make your motor work harder = hotter FETs.Quote:…I can’t really figure out how you are going to cram 4AA or even 4AAA batteries into the transmitter casing without some serious cutting and taping.Just like how Tomy uses 1/4 AAA batteries in the car, fractional (my term) batteries are a common industrial size. You can get 1/2 AAs, 1/3 AAs and even 5/4 AAs.
Two 1/2 AAs should theoretically fit in the space of 1 AA, so you could have 4 nicads in space of 2 AAs. (No box cutting too!)
Quote:…The other car, for some reason, did not have a cripple cap on the Rx or the Tx and has a range of about 2 meters and its brand new :sad: That sux. Tuning the variable inductance ‘pot’ made no difference either. Go figure  Just a dud I suppose.:)uAI’ve been mucking around with some Compact 27s (white GTR) and that’s not doing well either. Nowhere near as good as a untouched blue 40.
Just checked Draconious’ site. He quotes:-
Electronics + servo only $59.50
Electronics, servo & chassis plastics $72.50And given that he’s over in Michigan, I guess those are yankee dollars… ouch! And don’t forget postage!! blackeye:
Quote:…i wouldnt mind a new ciciut board to mod with fets and still have a stocker….You’d be looking at KYO-MZ08* UNIT SET FOR RC from the spareparts rack, if anybody stocked it. But at usual spares prices, dare say it’ll be cheaper to just buy a whole new car.
What gearing are you using?
That makes a difference…Franchised Toyota dealers usually won’t touch private import turbo MR2s… well, the ‘good’ ones anyway.
They don’t have the specs & expertise to diagnose the Jap-market machines. Same with the Soarer, Harrier etc.
No BCG clubs that I know of, unfortunately.
The closest available are the fellas running MicroRS4 and MiniZ up at Hoppers Crossing, and also there’s a small group in Clayton or Cheltenham I think.
Why don’t you start one? 🙂
Shypo’s always been “Moderator” – which overrides all other level titles Aaron thinks up.
You guys are mixing up with JamieK’s level title.:p
Sorry guys, I only learnt all I know (very little) only from Dickie Smith’s.
Read this though:-
…all the info a techie needs to turn his/her BCG controller into a mega transmitterSomewhere in that article, apart from increasing your TX output for 200m range, is a way to modulate and feed a pulsing signal to the TX for variable control using a PIC.
Frequency of that pulse is limited by the slow TX/RX chips I believe, but you may be able to get at least a couple of preset steps of speed (if not fully proportional).
Big RC cars always crack over the wheelwells too. 😀
Superglue seems to work ok on BCG shell plastics. You can also try Airfix model glue, might be stronger than the Testors one I use for gluing on rear wings (removable with some effort).
7805 v-regs are easy to get, but they need to be fed at least 6V if you want stable 5V out. Possibly 6 cells is a minimum if you want to use rechargeables.
Stick a few more rusty screws & nails in, so no one will come near it in a hurry! 👿
Seems that parts *are* available, just no shop in Melb has much stock of them. Guess there must be no demand?? 👿

No, I think the first part of ‘throttle back’ is brake, then the rest is reverse. (yes, its pretty easy to overshoot into rev.) I haven’t tried one for myself though.
There was some mod somewhere to mount your mirrors with elastics, so they bounce back. Would that help?
Or is that your badge-theft prevention technique? :smiley2:
Quote:just anther question what are the deal with the F1’s and what are therer BRAkers???F1s have real brakes as well as reverse on their ESC.
Not after hopups, Dan… more like wondering can we actually *buy* mZ spareparts in Oz – replacement bits for the parts you break.
I’m starting to think ‘no’..! blackeye:
Yes, its been discussed before that you can easily tweak the car to within +/- 3Mhz with the variable inductor pot-thingy.
But why bother?
A car on 35Mhz will still pickup signals from anything within ‘inductor’ (my terminology) range, so you can’t run cars at 30 *and* 35 at same time.
That’s why Tomy had to use 27/35/45/57.
Also I suspect the inductor coil is the same unit across different freq cars, just the static parts leading up to it have different values.
