You guys saw how quickly I got rid of my 27mhz sbcg 911. That’s how unhappy I was with the product.
I beleive the 40mhz doesn’t suffer the carppy range and command stutter that is widely known. not sure on this though.
The shells are bloody brilliant, just ordered some of the sbcg pullbacks from toyeast for the bodies alone!

Hey Micro, what model do you have?

Quote:You’re enterring that in the Comp, yeah!!?!?!!A few touchups are requred first. Gotta do the old “paint the inside black” mod to it first to realy make the lights how I want them.:p

Here’s some shots of how I did all the (very messy) wiring.

As you can see I’m using one of my little 5V light PCB’s to run the leds, in this photo I have it hooked up to a 3V lithium for testing. The 3V doesn’t really matter since I get the same output from a 1.2V source anyways.

Here you can see how the front white and blue leds are mounted. I made sure to keep the light fixtures clear so I had masked them before painting. I’m a big fan of using surface mount leds and not drilling holes through the shell, that’s just me. I put a drop of superglue on the area and then hold the led to it to ensure its flush and I get a good contact so the light from the led gets a much brightness through the plastic as possible.

The same goes for the rear lights. Dang there’s a lot of wires there!
The Rims
The rims were made from normal Bit-CharG rims with some putty(bluetak) and some masking/painting.
First I bogged up every other spoke. I then used a cut up eraser to flatten the surface of the bluetak. Bluetak is used to hang posters n stuff so it’s pretty soft and prone to warping.

Once that was done I then masked the outer edge of the rim to keep the silver edge. I also masked the inside surface of the centre hub to keep it silver as well. Lookin’ a bit freaky at the moment, lol.

I then spraypainted it white. Approx 3 coats giving about 10 minutes drying in between. Once it had dried fully I then removed all the blutak and I got this. Pretty cool!

The front rims were done using the same method. They might be pretty small but it’s still achievable.

Once all the rims were done I threw them on the chassis and we are cool to go.

Yeah baby!

For a clone I’m happy with them. I got a 57Mhz booster set and was happy with the results. The only things I noticed were.
1) Noisy, very bloody noisy.
2) Piss poor unboosted, needed a 3.8 a least.
3) Stock range is excellent.
4) Front sway bar is stiff as, makes the turning circles relly tight.
5) Font tab is wider on the chassis and therefore it’s harder to fit legit TOMY shells onto it.For it’s cost though, it’s the best clone out there.

Go to bed, get up, make the list and we’ll see what happens….:approve:

Voodoo, I gotta say man that the truck is awesome! :p
Those “hero” rims are definately original that’s for sure…
Can someone Tell maza that he needs to use the Ausmicro picture hosting so everyone can see his pics. Also tell him that this is the thread for entry discussions, not the entries thread!

Quote:I tryed weighing down my chassi with bluetac last night but it messed with the streering I assume that the bluetac was the causeThis is prolly because you put bluetac over the white ends of the steering knuckles that stick out the bottom of the steering front end of the chassis.
And no is definately does NOT conduct.

What’s this, micro rc planes? News to me….:approve:

I’d love to see some video of that Z in action man…..

Dude, that is so true. If anything I just focus my dual cell modding on lxx boosters. That way you have the two speeds to work with and it’s a bit more managable.
