One day I will be able to import the old forums into the new – We have sat down with a programmer and looked at things. We think it can be done.
There’s about 20000posts in the old one I think 😉

Site Owner Guy.Yeah physics is the ruler of all. Things like suspension design can affect corners and handling but for the most part a bad setup can kill a perfectly good buggy and a good setup can vastly improve a ‘bad’ buggy.
My personal feeling is that Tamiya moved away from buggies and offroad becuase they thought road cars were going to be the next-big-growth area, which to the extent it was, but not to the exclusion of people wanting to hack around on dirt.
The XC I think and Rally cars are probably the correct hybrids of the two style that give the ‘hack’ around enthusiasts a vehicle that can be run anywhere without a worry…

* I have finished the Avatar and Member Support tye coding and it’s live and running on another site!* I have got some prices on stickers. At this stage they’re a bit expensive for small ones considering the batch sizes – but we’ll see what we can do. BIG Computer Cut Vinyl ones to suit 1/10th cars, 1:1 cars etc will be available as well.
* I have coded in a few new features for all users into the new ausmicro.com code. So far the re-work of the site is all about features and not about looks 😉
* The Member Gallery system will be extensively overhauled at the same time. But so far I haven’t got a really you-beaut solution, it will come 😉
Just thought you’d all like to know 😉
And I bet some of you can’t wait for the 100×100 or 120×120 avatars!

Site Owner Guy.OTP – I think you’re missing Pandabears point, that is – the markup happens at ToyTraders (the Tamiya Importer) NOT at LHS level in Australia.
I suspect the same goes for the Mini-Z.

Site Owner Guy.Jamie, While playing around chasing ph2ts Micro FETs I plugged in a few searches for 1F 5.5V Super Caps…. Interesting price variations.. How much were you paying for them elsewhere?
The pricelists would indicate they’d retail for about $8-10 each?

Site Owner Guy.I priced these the other day ph2t. I don’t think I can do them _that_ cheap. Mainly becuase I like to have ausmicro.com make a little cash outa them for the effort of stumping up the cash to buy them 100 (or whatever the minimum is) at a time. Not to mention these funny bills I get from Ireland….
I think If I buy 100 I get the price down to the $2.50 each delivered same as the IRF7389 FETs for Mini-Z….
But is that price good enough for people?

If we use a “Poll” system it can be manipulated.
If Site members all get one vote then the site with the most active member base will win.
If we have a judging panel then the judges either work from pics, or touch and feel the cars increasing the cost on entering.A.

Startup current doesn’t really help all that much does it? I suppose what people are banking on is the acceleration phase to be over in that startup phase.

Mocky, AUD$2.50 each any quantity of 4 or more. That price includes delivery. I take cash/money order/direct bank deposit/paypal (but prefer not to Paypal within Australia).
You get them in the mail within 3-4 days of payment coming through. I say that long because that’s officially how long AusPost can take 😉

Site Owner Guy.*nods* understand about the price – however I can’t do anything better than that – to get to offering that price I gotta buy a lot more than 16 (in fact over AU250.00 worth + pack + delivery + GST), which I then need to sell…
It looks like Vishay has few importers in AU that deal in the small numbers (I buy the IRF7389s in lots of 95) we’re talking about, so that means the ones that do ‘small’ numbers
As with any new technique make sure you document it so that when the time comes you can share it with the world.
There are other ways to FET the MZ, it’s just that IRF7389 or SI4562DY are direct solder-in replacements, that makes them ‘easy’, especially when they stack as well….

Site Owner Guy.Actually it’s been a pretty good evening for getting stuff done…
I’ve been working with the guys in Ireland (yes Ireland) and sorting through the config of the server. The good news is that we’ll be able to host our media stuff (moves zips etc) on the main ausmicro.com box once more. All is good like that 😉
They’re working on addressing my list of requests, which quite honestly is pretty long as it covers sites other than ausmicro.com as well. But as one of their longer standing customers (3 years!) they do tend to look after me. That and I have to pay the contract renewal again in April 😉 Damn there goes a few $$$.
