I think the pacecar competition idea is a good one. The AusMicro logo plasterred accross the car perhaps, or at least on the image somewhere. these would float around the web and draw in more members.
Whatever the comp, the AusMicro name needs to apper in the image that is sent in, or maybe Aaron can add it before the image is posted on the comp page?

My track – http://community.webshots.com/album/58669595eliwuKI don’t doubt that the AFX rails would look excellent, in fact I agree they would look good, but I think they’re expensive (cost prohibitive) for a larger track.
Keep in mind that when fully laid out my track has about 25m of race surface, so I’d need approx 50m of barriers.

You should be able to fix it, or find someone with some electronic knowledge who can (once armed with the schematics or PCB photos).
The name booster is a bit deceptive, it’s more of a choke. When the boost button is pressed the car runs at full speed for the motor, same as normal sets do all the time. When the button isn’t pressed, the motor runs at half speed, so a 2.2 motor runs like a 1.1 motor (not that one exists). You don’t get extra speed from these sets, just an extra step of speed control.
The 4 band controllers have a 3 way switch on them allowing for non booster sets, booster sets with the button to control boost, and booster set with constant boost.

If you want to take two 1m x 1m bit of by track along to race around on Sunday, let me know and I’ll loan it to you, for free admission of me and my 2 boys =o).
Can we get any photos of you and who-ever out at the DEC with the cars, etc? How many people showed any serious interrest? Did you meet more BCG owners? Did you meet any other AusMicro people?

My track – http://community.webshots.com/album/58669595eliwuKThe BCG GP in Japan use a bar from the sounds of it, though I believe the bars there are very different to ours – lots of private booths and private rooms.
I don’t think you have to try and have it in a Devils Henchmen frequented pub. Try ringing around the RC clubs. Maybe they have a place you could race, and a bar of sorts in house, or they might frequent a local pub that whould thus be RC friendly.

The UK site (under Links) also has some good track making ideas.
The BCG GP site (under links, worldwide on this site) has some good home made tracks that the guys whip together every month. Helps to use babelfish to check out their site as it’s all in Japanese.
Have a look around. There’s loads of sites where people show off their tracks, and tell you exactly what they used to build it.

AFX rails cost a fortune. I worked out it would have taken several hundred dollars to put rails all the way around my track.
How you build the track, what you build it out of, and what techniques you use are dicated by budget, handyman skills, available materials, how long the track needs to last, how portible it needs to be, and time available to build it.
The barrier logos on this site can be found under downloads I think.
