    cosmo, check your pm’s.

chino, sandpaper isn’t the best, it fills up with grit pretty quickly….

udriver, there’s some great results dude! very nice! as for your 20mohm h-bridge, nelly is under 10mohm!

    cheers,

I use a cutting block(original used to sharpen plane blades and chisels) and micro files. Just ask mocky, I re-trued a comm for him, side view looked like a bloody camel!

Hey cosmo, please ignore all the dickheads :approve:

    I will do the following:

test for top speed vs. the plasma top speed on the speed checker.

test for torque by running it on the speed checker and gradually placing a load on it.

put a multimeter inline with the motor to measure current loads.

take it out for some driving and compare top speed, acceleration, etc, etc…. (this would be the only “real world” test so to speak.)

If you don’t want me to open the motor I won’t. Otherwise I was going to open it up to check on it’s setup. clean it if I had to, re-true the commutator if needed. but as I said, if you don’t wants me to, I won’t…..

and of course you’ll get the motor back along with a nelly. timeline would be approx a month, given my other commitments/workload.

    cheers,

    ph2t.

yup, lower internal resistance decreases power dissipated. that’s the theory anyway…..

    here’s the dilly…

the mosfets used on the IW02 pcb’s are IRF7338

    here’s the datasheet:

    http://www.irf.com/product-info/datasheets/data/irf7338.pdf

Max power dissipation is still only 2W.. The on resistance is pitifull stock mini-z HAT3004 mosfet quality.

    cheers,

dude, you need to be patience, I’m a busy prick and don’t get to see all the posts all the time. hell, even when I do I CBF’ed answering at times…..

The motor I sold with the car wasn’t a hardcore performance motor like the atomic/plasma (really gotta come up with a name for it…)

    2 options dude.

Go closed can style. Get an ultra dash motor, chuck it in a bb can with carbon brushes and use the ultra dash magnets…

    OR

Go the mini540 can style, which is the motor listed in the first post.

    cheers,

I’ve got the part numbers at home for the IW02 mosfets. The iw-01 pro’s apparently have the faces grounded down. Dodgy buggers….

I’ll post the part # tonight for the IW02, it’s an IRF mosfet I can tell you at the most for now.

see here, this bloke just put a crappy iWaver XSPEED motor in it and it blew. IT wasn’t even the Xspeed Pro, just the regular iWaver xspeed.

    http://www.microrccenter.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=30978

So I doubt it would work.

I think their statement is full of shit. I’ve yet to see any complementary mosfet SO-8 pkg that can take over 2-2.5W of power….. Given this limitation unless they go to single packaged MOSFETS I reakon….

kevsta, at those speeds man, other shit becomes unreliable, like tyres, h-plates and wheel nuts ‘n crap….

all of the above have vibrated loose whilst on the speed checker 🙂

nice speeds btw dude, is that with the (plasma)ferrite magnets or neo’s ?, :)…

i’ve read people getting low 70 k’s on the nml SS.v2

    – but then again – i haven’t got that motor to test- it- i haven’t even got checker to test my NML…

dude, would you be interested in shipping that NML down to me so I can test it against my motor’s??? There would be a free nelly 1.2 in it for your troubles..

@charlie, it ain’t a glitch. The motor is crap. It doesn’t have brushes, just copper wipers that ware out in a second. TE prolly a surge of orders for it and now it’s barely moving (cause it’s crap). hence the price drop.

    @z-beam
, score me one of them motors mate, I’ll hook you up with the $$ at the melb meet next Sunday.

    @z-nagual
, nelly can handle all 130 sized motors mate. Dunno about bigger sizes though, never tested. As for the “big block”, sounds like you’ve got it already :D. The atomic bb can + plasma armature is the best you can get. Swap out the neo magnets for the original ferrite(black) magnets that come with the plasma and you’ll see a HUGE increase in speed. Acceleration will drop off, but not as much as you would think.:D

yeah. if you find a good hookup for the chassis (ie: < $85 USD) let me know. I'll order one along with you if that's ok.

Waiting on some AAA 650mA KAN cells, they’re meant to be the shizzle, apparantly capable of a 10C output, that’s over 6A!!!

Notice carbo6cell was using KAN cells on his 6 cell beast.

I’m thinking a nelly 1.3, plasma/atomic motor, 16t M18 composite pinion, stock kyosho diff…dunno about the motor mount yet, possibly my old pnracing one, it had the smoothest gear mesh out there.

hmm, where can you get smaller spur gear sizes for the diff?

so far the fattest tyres I’ve seen are the kyoshos. the 3Racing foams I had were also pretty chunky.

stock rims, don’t see how wide rims would help on the speed checker…

    that’s all I can think of…..

priest, you can hack the gpm alloy front servo case and mount it in with the rest of the plastic front servo case. this stops the front pillow ball mounts from cracking….that happens after you get an alloy front damper mount. and trust me, if you get the iw04, you will get the alloy damper mount a week later….

was testing a batch of nelly’s today. hit 48kph with neo magnets and 16t pinion. I know it doesn’t sound like much but with the neo magnets you still have great torque. this was only 4 cells of course.

yeah, but what pinion? this is the first time someone with both motors (and a tamiya speed checker) has been able to accuratrly compare.
