nah dave, those metal tweezers are your steering springs best freind. get a lighter heat them up and melt the plastic that holds the coil in place a little bit so that it will never fly away again.

shypo im pretty crap with internet skills but if you want da phat avatar of wet willy pimp style go check out the world industries website.
my tracks got world industries sponser logos i got from the site. my rep points better go up for this one, the tech deck stickers are awesome too, just the world and darkstar ones. if only someone would put my pics on their site.

birdwig, hotnifes will bend the plastic. once you have a hole drilled the exacto blade can shave easier. also cheap oem shells are softer so have a practice first. is there any mustang or gto shells availible for bcg’s in the u.s.

if indonesia attacks australia because bush is greedy in iraq i’ll have to kill john howard with a suicide range modded bit char-bomber

double charge, cycle, check gears and axles for fluff build up( and clear the fluff with fine tweezers and a razor), i use high speed lube(skateboard) on my front axles and susp. parts.
    mini-vacuum the track.

    Z-BEAMS VARIABLE SPRING SUSPENSION MOD:
when you first start making spring suspension there are bound to be a few too short to do any thing with. so what i worked out is that by cutting a spring at the desired lenghth you can wind the other usally wasted half (or shorties) on to the cut end of the spring. just make sure you have springs with double complete ends otherwise youll need 2 pairs of springs.

the difference is smoothness. on bathroom tiles the gaps of grout used to bump steering off and loose speed but now it is better. also on a smooth surface (like my track) it hugs the road like a magnet.

shypo what sort of paint? i used humbrol metalic blue.

my s2000 has the hard suspension and a nimh cell.the only other thing i’ve done to it is lightening the chassis and shell by shaving layers with the stanley. on the digi scales it weighs in at 22.0 grams. those springs make a difference, i swear that tomy should have made the wiring a tiny bit sturdier and had spring suspension as a stock hop up like gears e.t.c.

um guys sorry but unless you have some weird batch or somethin those afx springs will be pretty damn useless (bar cosmetic) if you cut em in half. for starters only some springs are identicle on both sides=differing tension.the perfect length is a imposible cos there are different uses (as in the real deal). have a search in the old pages for info on susp. springs

i’ve fitted 5 bits with spring suspension one of which is hard custom springs from a lighter.dont bother with this one, a double or triple layered spring does the same.

shypo have you had a go painting the sprigs? looks sweet if done well.
one more thing, the cut uncomplete end of the spring should be wound around the nuckle so that you have even contact between the steering plate and the tops of the springs when assembled and pushed down.:8ball:

the standard bcg pinion gear has 6 spokes
    a kit racers got 7
but my oem special ed.loctite zexel’s got 8 spokes
i’ve had to cut at my bcg’s so that any pinion can be used. i also use flat tipped screws to balance the angle of the motor. this is how to tune gears to be loose (no brakes) or tight (hand brake). can you buy the 8spoke special ed gear sets?

mr mondo slow down. when nobody would get me nimh cells i turned to the enertech car. it has 2 1/4 aaa nimhs instead of 1x 1/3aaa nimh. the battery in a bcg is 1/3 aaa ni-cad. those smaller capacity nimhs charged fast and i used them( had to make extensions to the terminals) and abused em.
the reason the car sucked was indeed tuneable. the steering sucked because the spring used to center the steering is about 3 times thicker than bcg. AND it has ultra hard ribbed tyres front and back.
the controller did work (49 -40mhz) and the range and power out put of the enertech racer was refreshing, i could drive the little suby from one end of the motel carpark to the other.
if you do buy one tune it dont hack it kike i did. oh yeah the shell DOESNT fit without modding. bcg’s all have 2 doors but the enertech has all 4. the nimh cells are in sleeper form.
once modded though the wrx looks better than a tomy one.:)

after reading your post i feel stupid jamie, i bought an enertech racer and it had two nimh cells standard ( 1/4 aaa instead of 1/3aaa) and its steering sucked cos it had a thicker steering spring, maybe it would come in handy. alternatly add a second steering spring. have you fitted any spring susp. in yor turbobits jamie

sounds like you have a few different problems and each needs to be treated individually. ok when you say clip doyou mean the metal heat sink or the black plastic tab on the chassisthat the shell and the heat sink secure onto?
