I’m ready!
Seriously for those that are in Tas my Partner and I will be in Hobart from the 21st Decemeber through the 4th of Jan.
I’d love to catch up for a few hours and say “G’day” in person and all that….
We need a cheap and easy goign location – preferably where food and stuff can be eaten and bought and so on… So a ‘quiet’ Cafe / pub / whatever would be good?

Site Owner Guy.Trash – The site itself is about 200mb for the ‘core’ of the site… the Member galleries are not counted in that.
The problem is the amount of data we haul…We do anywhere between 2 and 6Gb of traffic a month these days which means big $$
Essentially at the moment I pay for unlimited traffic, unlimited space and would like to keep it that way to allow for expansion of the galleries (when I write some better gallery code)…
The site itself has traffic surges as Micro R/C fans come and go which makes forward planning a nightmare 😉

Site Owner Guy.Yeah sorry guys…
Our host – which has been good to us over the 20 months we’ve been on air has been having some teething problems again.
A lot of you will remember some significant downtimes a while back – we they were caused when we moved from a European based Datacentre to a US based one… It would appear this US Based datacentre is not capable of living up to the customer expectation!
Anyway the long and the short of it is… we’re paid up through until April next year…. At that point I’ll see if it’s worthwhile trying to stump up the cash for moving the site – but it’s a lot of cash 🙁

Site Owner Guy.*blushes* Thanks guys 😉
Random donations are always welcome via PayPal (Pay shop@ausmicro.com) however for Aussie based people this is not really an efficient way unless you have the cash ‘spare’ in Paypal.
The Cafe Press links that appear around the site do make money if you buy things, and with the AU$ getting stronger you can now buy more than ever for less $$…
I’m not going to let the site ‘go’ under at any time and won’t hold that over people to encourage donations.
If even 1% or 2% of the population donated about US$10 per year we’d pretty much have all our costs covered… And be able to look at upgrades etc… But it’s a ‘fair’ amount of money for people to pay out and I’m sure people would like to be sure they’re getting their $$ worth 😉

Site Owner Guy.There’s always plenty of room in the engine bay… As for more boost 12psi is what most people run with a small intercepter ECU in place….
Makes about 300kw….
Personalyl I’ll stick to linking gear up the Premium sound screen 😉

Site Owner Guy.We always have room to host videos Trash 😉
There will be a Gallery of the Entries, preserved for time immortal on the site.

Site Owner Guy.As per the PM sent to winners, please contact me with your postal details!
Now the Important News….
We Have One more Prize!!
😉
Info to come!
A.

Site Owner Guy.Yeah – as you can tell the post was written in advance of me getting the finalised list of winners.
I’m sure we’ll work asomething out so ph2t gets a real prize.
The interesting thing to me was that many many of the amazing cars entered were modded only in the visual sense, or the judges didn’t get much info about the chassis underneath and hence thanks to our scoring system they scored well in a lot of areas but then ‘stood still’ for about 25/100 points.

Site Owner Guy.Doing the final recounts!
Double checking and getting my calculations double checked!
A.

Site Owner Guy.They’ll be posted once I get home this arvo/evening.
I appreciate everyones patience and the next time we run one we will be having a FULLY Automagic system that takes entries, lets them be judged and tallies and produces a winner on the required timeframe!

Site Owner Guy.Sydney is a possibility early next year…
Easterish in Brisbane is possible 😉
Enough of the City rivalry folks!
The main thing is we’re all here to have fun!
Over the next couple of weeks I’m hoping to get some feed back from the Tassie crowd and from my other half to work out a day and place to catch up….
A.
--
Site Owner Guy.*laugh* No need for Congratulations…. No news there… Just how else does one title the Significant Others Mother?
It’s my firstest ever trip to Tasmania 😉 We’re going ont he boat via Melbourne, and do have a dayish where we could possibly catch up with people 😉 Either on the ay down or the way back…
I wonder where DaveF is based in Tas?
A.

Site Owner Guy.It’s “tiptronic” style auto… actually a very nice gearbox.
I’m only running stock boost and that probably won’t change..
It was pranged by a dealership yesterday when in for a service so I’m currently not a happy camper….
--
Site Owner Guy.A lot of computers/internet links won’t show up the speed increase becuase of their ‘draw-time’ of the screen.
Yes our ISP let our server run out of disk space….
Shoudl be resolved now…
A.

Site Owner Guy.OK Waiting on the last Judge now……
*grins* There’s no clear winner yet as there’s a number of cars grouped tightly near the top!
--
Site Owner Guy.So where are they peedee?
Been over http://www.fordxr6turbo.com yet?
Or am I missing something?

Site Owner Guy.ausmicro.com is managed and ‘built’ in part with Dreamweaver MX.
The only way to make a pro looking site is to get all arty 😉 I have floating around a somewhere a Dreamweaver MX Bible that was pretty good…

Site Owner Guy.*blushes* Nothing else yet Imprezza… I’m hoping to upgrade to a new ‘enhanced’ version of the forum code, but it hasn’t been released yet..
But at least it looks like we’ve gotten a real and sustained performance boost.

Site Owner Guy.Yeah the secret ausmicro.com Forums 😉 *laughs* There’s Two, one for Moderators, and one for the Competition Organisers.
At least we don’t run an exclusive “Donating Members” forum like some other sites (not Micro RC related) doo to bribe people into coughing up hard earned cash.

Site Owner Guy.Will be very keen to see some entries before the date!
However we may extend if required :

Site Owner Guy.I know – I have just finished up my judging and am waiting on our two fellow Judges to return their scores to me.
Sadly the delay is due to the 100 point criteria we laid down for judging. It’s probably the most thorough process we could have and will return a winner than has done something unique and exciting.
I’m blown away by the entries, the quality and the detial in them are exception. The sheer uniqueness of others make them magic.
A.
--
Site Owner Guy.Yes – unfortunately we are late in Judging things, Please bear with us – when we started the competition we had no idea we would generate some many entries and giving each entry a fair score (we judge on a 100 point scale) is very very time consuming!
A quick overview of the Judging is:
100 Points available for each entry.
Roughly 18 criteria judged at 5 points each
Remainder are 10 points each
A stock car would achieve 50% on all technical and appearnace judging.
Your posts and pics do have a small score attached to them, but we have plenty of latitude towards how the pics look because of cameras etc. We are looking for pics that show you were trying to to show us something….Anyway please watch this space!

Site Owner Guy.BitHed and I try to chat from time to time and I have to say he’s definately not in the business for the money – like all of us he’s into the cool micro R/Cs and he’s keen to share what he finds with all his customers!
Hopefully the members of ausmicro.com will show him the support that he deserves for that kind of service!

Site Owner Guy.I see Kitty quite often in person, she’s not been well for quite a while and is focussing on trying to get back to work fulltime etc.
Her R34 with some sh!thot motor from BitHed is seriously quick…..
So I say she’s here in spirit….
--
Site Owner Guy.DaveF – after I finish the Competition judging DB, do the Dump, hack an Xbox into my 1:1 car, and all that I’ll do a date mod for you 🙂
It’s actually probably not that hard to do….
