If you build it – they will come.
Just a thought but I always figure that it’s sometimes not a matter of everyone having the time at the same time, but rather a floating group that’s there in some form most weekends etc.

Site Owner Guy.*laughs* Yeah the DSE staff in Coffs have been useless for years – well they were 10 years ago and not improved since my last experience there.
(Yes I lived up there for 12 years before coming to Canberra)What we really need to do is work out the numebrs that identify the FETs… If it’s running a H-Bridge (variable speed forward and reverse) then there should be a pair of them exactly the same and a pair of complementing FETs
If it’s a simple go forward/go backwards job then they could just be two, one for reverse one for forward…Really can’t do much with a part number…

Site Owner Guy.Also – one thing I’ve discovered from stripping mine down is that the NanoDragon has bearings right through the driveline with the only plastic bushes being out in the wheel hubs.
This means it’s a “cheap” 8 bearing set to gett he best driveline performance. The Topcad alloy doesn’t dissapoint, it looks great and has perfect finish. A single Atomic part that I got surprise surprise doesn’t fit properly. (what is it with atomic? Can’t they use a measuring tool correctly?)
8 cell battery pack is fun too.
Weighed some TopCad parts against theirplastic counterparts.. Interesting 😉

Site Owner Guy.leon, would you belive that’s my plan 😉 we have a few kicking around and it seems that Atti (the cat whose fur makes up most of it) doesn’t mind being harvested. Toppy the Bengal isn’t as keen – but makes a lighter coloured ball while Duke doesn’t like it at all and hence rarely contributes to the ball making.

Site Owner Guy.Oh and if you’re worried about parts support – ausmicro.com has just ordered a 7kg package of spares for the NanoDragons. Most plastic parts are in there.
Basic Hop-ups (full bearing sets, uni-drive shafts etc) are coming from TopCad
I also have coming some TopCad alloy bits and pieces for demo’ing..

Yeah ph2t, it’s a nicely put together unit. ToyEast (or whatever they call their manufacture arm) is doing a great job at bring up quality. I’m very happy starting to import these and hopefully we’ll be stocking a range of Parts and Hop-Ups in the future.
Actually can Mini-Inferno owners let me know what parts they feel were essential, what parts they find wear out and what parts and just for looks?
So far my thoughts are:
- Bearings
- Motor Mount bits
- Shafts/Universals?
- Suspension Mounts
- Tyres and Wheels (just stock)
- Suspension Arms?

Site Owner Guy.Got some new stuff for a major rebuild of my AWD.
- Kyosho Skeleton Chassis set (Blue naturally)
- Kyosho Titanium prop-shaft
- PN Racing 2nd Generation motor heatsink cover
- PN Racing Macho Modified Motor
These are joining the existing bunch of Alloy from PN and iWaver. Still running stock universal shafts and stock knuckles/tie rods
So far they’ve held up to everything the Spider and Anima/Saber combos could dish out.
This rebuild will be that last change it gets for a while. Pics to come as I do the build.

Site Owner Guy.All you do is use the reference circuit for the 627’s add in the caps (they are needed otherwise you will get glitching) and drive the FETs – check the middle of the Woah Nelly thread for some info on the voltages. You only need to drive the N chan – or is it the P chan but not both 😉

Site Owner Guy.Not going to work – see the board will get the right voltage but the FETs on the Spider won’t be driven at the right voltage. You can get around that by using something like MAX627 MOSFET drivers etc – basically making a WoahNelly Deluxe type design… But honestly if that’s what you want just buy the WoahNelly Deluxe from ph2t, it’s perfect for that application.

For me it was drifting a completely stock AWD (I have the chassis kit not the Readyset) around the island bench in the kitchen, none of my previous cars were really driveable in the kitchen at all…
And now, well it’s a bit too overpowered for my own good 😉

Site Owner Guy.z-beam, I can do you a AWD converted PN motor of any kind now. Done as per PN Racing guidelines with 3rd cap added.

Site Owner Guy.I do think the AWD is a huge step up compared to the MR01 for outright quick easy fun.
I always found the MR01 a finicky beast, and the times when I just wanted to hack aroudn it was a bit of a pain. In some way iWaver 01s were less fussy than the MR01s I have/had.
The MR02 well, ok I haven’t driven mine as much as I want, but it certainly a notch better again than the MR01 in terms of easy fun. and as a plus it does get better when you start throwing tecnology at it!
The AWD on the otherhand out of the box is driveable with no fuss, yeah it could be a better design (more balanced) but it works and it turns and steers quite well. It’s the first stock car that I’ve had that I really felt differences in making small changes too.
Now the AWD is running modded electronics, hot motor, alloys (all narrow) and a lot of alloy covers and clips it’s still a great fun car and still not very fussy – unlike the MR01 when modded – just a lot faster and a lot more expensive!
The Monster is great fun, and Kitty and I give these a workout moreso than any of out other cars becuase they work anywhere, sure they don’t turn great, but with FETs and a X-Speed they go fast enough, bounce over most rough ground and generally it’s a crack up…

Site Owner Guy.Motors are great – like all PN Racing gear.
The NanoDragons seem good enough, these days iWaver does make a pretty good product with their plastics and moulding quality being right up there. Mind you we’ll see how consistent they are once a few come in and move on. Electroncis wise they’re again good without being exceptional. All in all they’re a great fun car – and probably comparable to any of the 1/16th & 1/18 RTR buggies in that price range.

There’s a few of us here with the AWDs, check out the couple of threads about them for ideas on what we’ve been doing.
I (guessing) would think Ken, rcs2die4 and I have pretty much the most modded AWDs on the site, and have found them to be a lot of fun. I do think they’re a great beginner car despite the cost.
