In both cases Genspec, I would try doubling the larger capaciter.
The nano’s 100uF can go up to 220 uF 10V
    The compact’s 47uF can go up to 100uF 10V.

If it doesnt work, just replace the originals.
Be careful with the polarity of the capacitors tho.
One leg will have (-) (-) (-) down the side of the capacitor. Make sure it stays on the same side when you replace the capacitor.
Good luck, let us know how you go.

    Yeh Barrell got it right,
    just to confirm
A is standard control mode (non boosted cars)
B is normal unboosted mode (booster button works)
C is boost always ON mode

B & C are only for booster chassis cars

It turns a modest toy into a pocket rocket and is ten times the fun. If you can, do the mod so both cells are inside the chassis, it handles heaps better.

They are (were) both WRXs, and I believe one is gone already. So if I’m gonna do this I’d better make my mind up. They have just told me that it is on reserve for me for 2 days, then it goes back in the store window
    Hmmmmm.

Yeh I figure there will be plenty of clones around. I’ll keep an eye out for Bit Car-g too..lol, thanks GT-ahh
Coz, if they are there, and they are the real McCoy,and cheap, I’ll be ditchin half the clothes I brought with me and stuffing my bags with bits for sure.
Shypes ol boy if I can find a cheap “wild”, I’ll buy us both one, that goes for the Gloria too.

Just got to figure out how to get the time alone to do the ‘important’ shopping.

Yeh I’ve stopped buying from the US for all the above reasons. If I cant find what I’m looking for in Japan or HK, I wait. Pity the US postage is so expensive and sometimes slow. The Japanese and HongKong sellers win hands down delivering to Australia on price, postage and delivery time. And if you ask nicely, they usually do an extra specially good job on the packaging too.
Oh, and of course, bithead does a very good job of packaging too……and you cant beat EMS

If you are good with a fine tipped soldering iron, the transisters can be changed.

There’s no Law against selling the xtals, just illegal to be transmitting at certain frequencies

I didnt actually mean that they were illegal to sell, just that generally they are not available. Good to hear that you have a supplier for custom frequencies tho…..

For those of you who are not sure how the frequency/range thing works, let me offer this explanation and maybe the likes of pandabear or ph2t can elaborate further if I am not clear.

Imagine that you were able to hear the transmitted signal of your transmitter as an audible sound.
The frequency would be the ‘pitch’ or the ‘tone’ of the sound.
The the higher the frequency, the higher the tone you hear. So then 40MHz would be higher pitch than 27MHz (eg, 40MHz beeeeeep…. 27 MHz baaaaarp)

The strength of the signal (or the range) would be the volume of the sound that you hear. If you increase the volume of the sound it will travel further. If we were to increase the signal strength of our little transmitters, the signal would obviously travel further.

The ‘pitch’ and the ‘volume’ of the sound (or signal) are two different things

Thats why there is no detectable range difference between our frequencies.
They are transmitting a different ‘tone’ to each other, but they are transmitting at the same volume, and will have very similar range to one another.
(Technically its not exactly the same but its close. Different frequencies of the same strength do travel different distances, but its not really relevant in our range of 20 feet or so)

    Also….
The higher frequencies do not ‘travel’ faster than the lower frequencies because all freqs travel at the same speed in the same medium (ie air) So my 57MHz booster doesnt receive its signal any quicker than my 27MHz Toyota Bb. The transmitting frequency has no bearing on the cars responsiveness or performance.

I hope I dont sound patronising by making it this simplistic, but I just thought that if it was explained in this way it would be easy to undersand

    They’re great.
Once you have one you’ll find a thousand uses for it around the house.
Indeed, just the other day I had a twinge in one of my lower left molars. Rather than book an expensive dentist appointment……..yes, really.

and another time my kitten looked like she had something in her eye, out with the trusty dremel.

she tends to bump into things now but I’m sure thats temporary

and before, when I couldnt eat cold food, well now I cant eat warm food either. But I wanted to lose weight anyway, and the dremel has given me the will power to get me there.

Wonderful tool, just wonderful. and so versatile

For the budget concious, there is a Dremel clone that is made by Ozito. The motor tool, the flexi drive shaft, the stand, and about 40 attachments for about $90 from Bunnings. If you buy all this as genuine Dremmel parts youd be paying about $400. Works just as good too.

    I think I’ll trim just a bit more here…….:)

No, the higher or lower the frequency makes no difference to the range for close freqs, eg from 10 – 100 MHz in the AM band. It is difficult to make R/C gear in any other freq than those commercially available because they dont sell the crystals for the frequencies. Transmitting on these frequencies is not permitted in Oz, so naturally, neither is selling the crystals.
Although crystals for a few freqs under 12MHz are freely available. (now theres a mod idea !!)
Once you get up to the GHz ranges you get better signal range with low transmission power. Thats why bluetooth and cordless phones are using these frequencies

Hey ph2t, by any chance do you have a pinout of a TX6C chip. This is the chip in the booster Tx (and the 4B). That would shed a little light on things for me.
Also I know there is a TX7C & RX7C chipset that is digi propor R/C. I’d love to get a set of thos into a bit.

new tyres have ‘cast mould’ lines around them from where they came out of the cast. If you know what I mean. They dont sit flat on the floor.
Good idea on the trueing idea.

I love my dremel….my BCGs tremble when they hear the dremel running, and with good reason too.:approve:

Excellent work ph2t. I have been looking for Rx diags for a while.
The Tx diag is accurate. I’ve been working with that one. The only real difference between the frequencies is the crystal (obviously) and the inductors (L1 L2 L3).
I would say the Rx ‘bandwidth’ is set by a capacitor value. Fine tuning this value would restrict the width of the signal that the Rx responds to, and hopefully exclude other frequencies a little better. A different value would be used for each frequency.

But most of the P.Os here will let you pickup early in the mornings. The friendly local PO people know me now, only because I have been picking up my BCGs at 6am on the way to work.
I dont know how they are so cheery that early.

I think you will get by Sat anyway

    Twin batt bits are faaaaaaantastic.
Especially if you go all the way and fit the second cell INTO the chassis not just on top.
No wheelies, no tipping over, just pure speed and baby they handle like they are on rails.
I just wore out one of my ‘twin batts’ out….. need another
Now where did I put my dremel…..

uA you have any clues? I’m stumped…. Short of narrowing the bandwidth of the RF stage in the RX (and I have no clues how to do that anyway..)

The b/w of the Tx is quite good because it is crystal stabilised (eg 27.000Mhz)
The problem as I see it is mostly with the Rx. It is not crystal stabilised and will pick up just about any signal that is strong enough and that conforms to the input ‘codes’ it is set to receive regardless of the carrier frequency. If you were to introduce a crystal filter into the Rx it would probably filter out the code pulses for the various functions.

    ph2t check your PMs

for we’ve found when we finish racing and the next heat starts, the last lot of cars are usually still half charged and they go heywire!!

What about a micro on/off sw on the chassis. That would allow you to charge up without running around while others are racing

Anyway, this is getting off the topic.
Stock cars and only factory hopups is fine with me…lets do some racin’…..
