    driving technique perhaps 😛

i dunno, i bought 2 at a time and now have 5 of the little buggers now.

mind you big W decided to give 2 of them to me for free 😀
(long story short, i bought 2 shirts with the first 2 cars and they were to big. went back to return the shirts and wanted to buy 2 more cars and some books for emma and a toolbox for storing cars in. got to the checkout and the lady looks at the receipt and decides ive allready payed for the 2 cars with the shirts! i thought well if yor that stupid i wont say no as she put it all in the bag )

they all seem pretty balanced to me, as balanced as a car can get without a diff that is. they run streight ahead but without power slides turning will never be even.
slightly slipery surface gun full throttle and let go of the power as you press the steering. without momentum it wont work but if you have the right surface (vynal flooring works good) they turn on a dime in both directions with practice.

    beat you by $1…

found a bcg motor in some toy i bought and it interferes with the reception 🙁 dunno if thats going to be the same wit all bcg motors.

i needed to trim the pinion a lot to get it to mesh right.

damn that sounds interesting… if i was racing z’s regularly that’d be a definate purchase.

bugger! i thought id have that no probs considering the mispelling dgs. jooo sark.

dunno what your driving on to get that much of a turning circle difference, ive found mine are running true and turn pretty evenly.

anodized alloy is just normal silver alloy with a modified surface ( i know you change the surface colour of titanium using heat which makes it oxidized). cant see how an oxidized layer could somehow change the alloys properties to interfere with radio signals.

thats just an educated guess however…

i found myself the corvette stingray on the bay tonight for under $30 delivered. comes with an orange gear set and an orange motor and looks pretty cool.

my 41 ford is coming along nicely… the second layers of putty went on tonight over the plastic frame i had to build to keep the front nice and tough. ive learnt a lot of sculpting tricks during my sabatical from r/c’s.

had to buy a second gravedigger micro monster body today, along with some new body shells thanks to some cheapy “kids r cool” plastic toy cars at coles. picked up an mx-5 and a wedge style mclaren i think it is for $4. i seriously love how its possible to find new bodies for these qsteers just about anywhere if you put in the legwork.
thats if you can be bothered fabricating mounting clips so they fit on the r/c chassis.

picked up the yellow lancer and the silver wrx on my lunch break today.

the lancer was last one on the shelf, there where at least 15 of these on saturday at the big W i went to. must be pre christmas binge and any car thats yellow must be bumblebee syndrome.

plenty of all the other cars left and after getting them open over a coffee i noticed the silver wrx was just a little faster. i checked the motor colour and its a green end instead of a white end like the others.

if i remember the greens are 1.6 in the old bcg scale…

so just a heads up, if your thinking of picking one up, grab the wrx even if you think the new design is a little shite.

check out the embedded youtube vid in the middle of this blog… driftoooooooo 😛

    upcoming buggy q-steers…

    http://item.rakuten.co.jp/mrmax/izu-290133/

cant see if they are articulated and have any suspension in the rear. im hoping for to much there heh, but one can dream.

found a choro-q knockoff in safeway tonight of an ambulance. body fits nice and snug 🙂 last one left but ill be on the lookout for more of these on my travels, there are some nice bodies available, and at less than $3 and available from supermarkets makes moding these easy.

read some nice info about people using bcg motors in these by shaving down the pinion gear. after opening one of mine up the motor is grey on the end, denoting it in the old bcg colours as a 1.0. some of the upgraded sets have an orange end motor (the old 2.6) so will go faster. cant wait to get home and mod these little suckers!

the return of the gold/silver bodies!, and check out the detailed 24 set.

these rock. im in love with my pair honestly. its like all the annoying factors of bcg have been illiminated (except the lack of a diff heh).

no interference between 2 of them, going to have to test 4 at once when i get a few more.

range is just perfect for its size.

wont take old bcg motors by the looks of the thing, but its been a long time since ive looked at my bcg motors so i might be wrong.

will take bcg pinions, so some custom ratios are possible right now.

copious body shells available from supermarkets. penny racers e.t.c are cheap. the aussie q-steers have been glued on from what ive noticed unfortunatly. easy to fix though.

the calsonic skyline at that link looks like it has 2 axles in the set. might need some help buying these in japan 🙂

cant wait to get em home and revive the old bcg tracks

    micro baja? *drool*

how fragile are the little buggies? not having a bit of body protecting the wheels is kinda scary… but if they are tough enough to take a full tilt hit then im very interested

    indoor offroad track? yes please

picked up a red rx-8 and a blue r34 today for $20 each. they are litte rippers.

out of the pack the range is better than pretty much all bcg’s i ever bought (a lot) and the turbo works well.

body shells are glued on however…

micro mosquito… i saw it and bought one yesterday… great fun and a lot more enjoyable having the extra control.

does “roll” around a bit after moving forwards, but i guess its a challenge of the design.

quite a bit heavier than the heli-q, the throttle is touchier as well. lots more power+lots more weight= funfunfun.

and those eye headlights are great 🙂

    <hooke d on choppers now i guess.

the tail end consists of a single metal wire, bcg size motor and stickers covering the metal frame. i could trim the stickers but i really dont want to mess with it.

i stuck in two jewellry pins, kinda like u nails but tiny steel at the front and it balanced out nicely. got some really nice extended flights indoors today.

    flying is fun 🙂

even landed safely a few times.

sorry for the thread necromancy but i bought a little chopper myself today. i saw the pico-z at a toys r us up in townsville but passed up the oppurtunity of buying it due to zero experience or knowledge on the little chopper.

on the way to pick up some medical supplies (this flu is a killer 5 dead allready 😛 ) the local jaycar shop here in noosa caught my attention and the tiny infra red controlled heli-q was on display and one out for me to muck around with.

after 5 minites i got the hang of it enough to hover and then got a little to confident and nearly collided with some old guy customer in the store. i was sold. unfortunatly its only got rudder control and throttle and cost $50.

im hooked on flying now. wish i checked out this thread earlier though! i must find an affordable indoor chopper with full control now.

its about time i enjoyed my r/c’s again.

between world of warcraft, my woman and work there hasnt been much time at all for the toys.

when im on the road wow gets shelved for the sony psp, and lately the scene really picked up with a solid downgrader and custom firmwares that let you do whatever you want with it.

bit torrent + custom firmware = free games pretty much… ive only dl’d about 5 so far, but ive bought about 10 so theres no guilt. yet…

emulators work well on it, but finding bios to get some of them to work has been a pain in the a$$.

last week i couldnt resist the temptation of a beastly rc tank. its a heng long 1/16th panzer. got to muck around with it for a day before i had to send it off to home as the car is chockers for the buisness trip allready.

cant wait to get home and figure out how to “enable” the firing mechanism, there is a switch in the turret that was glued in the off position so im hoping i can just scrap the switch so the cannon is permanantly enabled.

it sounds awesome, and it has a built in smoke machine that chuffs the grey stuff out. about the only grip i got with it is that it does 360 spins waaay to fast (apart from the cannon not working yet!).

i got a freind living in osaka now and im tempted to get a pair of those new tomy q-steers sent over just to check em out. would be awesome if they were better than bcg’s as i have 2 decent tracks gathering dust in the garage. anyone heard about the q-steers?

those mame cabinets sound awesome. have you guys heard of mugen? its a 2d fighting engine where you can import files for pretty much any 2d fight game character. check out mugen vids on youtube for some examples… homer simpson Vs. fat albert is classic.

thanks for the info Aaron, please blog more often its great to hear about what youve been up to.

personally ive had little time for the cars myself. i bought a nice xmod and it looks all shmick so im scared of beating it up without having a prettier shell to stick on it. really need a better motor made up for it, i should buy one for myself before my birthday hits.

so which toys did you keep? 🙂

sorry dave i havent tried to get any bcg batteries for years. i suppose i should resurect the collection though and at least get new batteries for them. its been so long since i looked at the guts of one heh.

betty or ph2t had a zz monter that used an i waver board inside it. the proportional controls made it 2x the original. only saw it once on a visit to victoria.

what are the IR tanks you have pictured above?
