Saw the thing in real life, fellas… and yeah, its a real cute gadget.

However do keep in mind that it also looks very delicate (compared to a BCG!!) and probably won’t accept the usual rough abuse a BCG would see. Then again, you probably won’t wanna abuse Keyence’s current semi-trailer truck anyway…

So that’s like the separation between CH1, CH2 etc etc in real RC gear?

but the question is the same, do I need a bike computer with variable wheel radius setting or can I use a simpler (and cheaper) unit ?

Just butting in here, but I did once used to ride a pushbike too…:)

You’ll find that *all* bike computers have “variable” wheel size settings, as all bikes have different wheel sizes (24″, 26″ etc etc). You define it in the initial setup.

The simpler/cheaper units probably just have less functions, maybe no clock etc. Or the box might supply 2 sets of sensors and mounts so you can install it on 2 bikes.

i’ve never seen these lxx sets in Aus, anyone wanna shed some light?? Or am I just not looking hard enough?

They are not in any major national chainstore, but they are available. The LXX are usually found in same places that you’d find private-import BCGs being sold. Since the boxes look so alike the real thing you might just be overlooking them.

    Hi guys!

Great meet, thanks for the arranging!!
And thanks too to the venue owner.

Nice three-some pic there… I’d call it the B26 Bomber formation.
(2 propheads with a big fat fuselage in the middle!!)

ohh just anther question did any people in the pub come and look and just think the things are aworsome and want to buy them

Err No, the clientele were all old fogies, all look like they’ve all been there since Anzac Day (whether the day before 2003, or Anzac Day 1960 who knows??).

They all looked pretty sauced @ 4pm and when this fatso stranger turns up at the bar asking “where the boys and their little cars are playing”, I was kinda nervous whether or not I’d even survive. Kept one eye on the exit door all the time but luckily the barkeep shoo’d me up the staircase.

Nice time by all after that, mainly discussing uA’s efforts and ph2k’s theories – both waaaaay over my head.

Same folk still at the bar when we left the place.
Don’t these ppl have a life??

Although the packaging is from tomy, the car is still made in china. I would of thought that it would have been made in Japan.

Can someone shed some light on this ?

Just about all toy stuff are now made in China due to the cheaper labour costs etc etc over there. If it was made in Japan it’ll need to be priced a whole lot more!!

Same reason that a lot of menial etc jobs are all getting exported to countries whos wages are less. Australia, Japan, USA are too expensive for labour… heck, 20 yrs ago there were factories in Hong Kong & Macau making cheaper toys but today they’re history too.

Just because its manufactured in China doesn’t mean its low-tech. Your PC and/or its components are probably made in China too, since Taiwan got too expensive. There are heaps of companies manufacturing in China now, everything from clothing to electronics.

Methinks Micro’s plastic could do with a boiling… boil the plastic bits in a large pot of water for a few minutes, it stress relieves them and makes it a bit more flexible.

I made mRS4 soup when I built mine but heck, haven’t had time to even play with it yet.

Numbers come and go, seems to go in cycles.

More so Tomy hasn’t really brought out anything new in recent weeks… and the MkII BCGs haven’t shipped yet otherwise we’ll be awash with “I got One!!” posts.

i dont know if im out of my league here, but i think that lancer in the ausmicro banner is so predictable. You guys should make it a gloria or maybe even a supra. But soooo many people have a lancer. Just saying, dont take it personally:D

    Erm…
    1) I don’t have a Lancer
    2) Don’t have a Supra either
    3) I didn’t choose it, ask Aaron
    4) that Lancer ain’t even a “TOMMI” one
    5) Gloria don’t have many fans it seems, noone in Oz knows what it is

I just think it was chosen ‘cos its RED.
    (and red cars go faster!!):D

the crappy part is that is you put a mod motor into a stock car, you will break things without even crashing, so you need to add some hopups to the base price just to have a car the will run and not break. (referring to the weak planetary front diff)

What breaks? The 2-pin interface or the actual body inside the purple tube?

Overheard a LHS fella (the one who knows what he’s talking about, rare but they still exist!!) last week tell a customer (buying diff sprue) to glue the diff casing together with rubber glue. The structural integrity should help its longetivity.

I have taken the pcb off and there is one of the fine wires off but i’m not sure which blob of solder it came from. it is a brand new car but it was sold as seen so i cant take it back. Just wondered if anyone was in the know about repairs and how to fix the problem. is it the car or the remote.?

Is this a TOMY car in the first place?

There are 4 solder pads that relate to the 4 wires that go to the 2 coils, and motor. Just need to look carefully to see which one its off.

i used to have a tamiya 4wd mini racer and had the batteries placed backwards.. and when i turned it on it went backwards.. LoL… it most prolly is a different case for the bit char-g..

Yes; there’s more ‘smarts’ in the BCG. 🙂

Mini4X4 can run in either direction, but get the battery wrong way in a BCG and you’ll fry the electronics.

The only one with the pullstart 21 engine is the “Sport”. The others are the MP 7.5 and Kanai I & II, these all don’t have engines in the kit.

Kyosho’s 21 engines are honest donks, they’re quite reliable and easy to maintain. They’re known to run a bit hot though, but this doesn’t seem to hurt them. Of course there’s no where near as much power as a $500 racing engine, but there’s still enough to do some serious damage.

If you’re not into serious racing, the Sport kit is more than enough. Put in a decent radio set, and a stronger steering servo is recommended too.

hey guys, im looking to buy a 1/8 scale off road buggy, and i have pretty much decided on the MP 7.5. Does anyone have any comments, good or bad, on this car? or know of a good website that i could go to to check it out?

Inferno is a great car, world champs for last 12 yrs STRAIGHT!!
MP7.5 is good, the Kanai will have even more goodies.

It is a bit expensive compared to the Taiwanese etc buggies so “value” isn’t fantastic… but heck, there’s a premium to be paid for good stuff.

im interested in any performance details if anyone knows about them. i read in another forum that it maybe goes 0-100 in about 2 seconds, is this true?

Can you accurately tell speed from just looking at something…? :smiley2:

    You Sure?? :p

MP7.5 don’t come with engine; what combo of engine and pipe you stick in it will determine its speed, as will your engine tuning etc etc.

If the seals have a finite life that’s OK they’re fairly cheap and considering it cost about $10 in parts to make a set of 4 oilers from my ‘junk’ it seems like a good deal.

You mean the rubber o-rings? They last quite a long time.
I only bother changing them when I need some o-rings for usage
under a screw elsewhere, so I put the new ones in the shocks.

The interesting thing was that when I was gutting the used ones I already had was noticing that they all had different vavling fitted … Guess when I get back from holidays I’m rebuiling the set on the ’03 to make sure the previous owner didn’t stuff them up 😉 (I never stripped them down when I rebuilt it)

I usually don’t run any acquisition until I’ve stripped it
and cleaned everything, then rebuilt to manual’s specs.
Its amazing how many previous-owner “innovations” there are. blackeye:

I think I have to clean up the gearboxes in teh Baja too, but that can wait until after it gets cained on holidays 😉

I don’t think dust actually makes any difference to its performance, but water can seep in and turn it into mud.

When rebuilding a TL01 I’d prefer to apply a little silicone sealant between the chassis halves, especially on the bottom.
