i think ph2t explains the virtues of the external turbo over a stack in this thread.
it’s probably somewhere near the beginning:8ball:

i’d stay away from the rc18t, ph2t had one and the gears were magnets for dirt and stones!:dead: :8ball:

you don’t hear a lotta bad press about the mini t, seems like a dependable rc.

there are of course many other options in the class now, mini lst, half 8, rc18t, etc etc.
then there’s all the special editions, rc18b, half 8 st, etc:8ball:

    ok, i can be serious.

we need more “getting to know you” stickies like a “members mugshot” thread.
and stuff like “how did you find us” or at the very least an “introductions” thread. (no, not matchmaking! but now i think about it…..:D )

a serious organise is needed too. we need all the good info stickied. this place is (used to be?) the number one technical help forum.
let’s drag back those golden threads from the maestro’s of micro gizmology like microamps, trash, ph2t, shypo, dave f, etc, etc.

there were a lot of “firsts” in the micro world that originated here, let’s remind the world that we’re the number one (english language) techo forum on the scene:topstuff: :8ball:

good choice but, dayum!! $28usd?? i’m sure they’re half that price on rcmart.
ph2t has one and it works well for him. just be sure to buy atomic brand spur gears when it comes time to replace them, other brands won’t fit.:8ball:

kyosho diffs are the best but awful expensive. ceramic balls are lighter and more durable than the metal type.
i break my diff down after around 15 – 20 packs.

i got a 3racing diff, it was a bit sticky and scratchy. so i replaced the balls and plates with parts from an old mr01 diff (well broken in), she’s smooth as silk now:8ball:

yeah, iwavers can be kinda fragile.
but it’s not such a bad thing, it forces you to explore your car and understand how it ticks.
i wouldn’t know as much as i do if i’d just bought the good stuff first!

the tx is still good though, i’d be lost without e.p.a and multiple model memory!
you can setup a brake using the iw tx but it means you lose reverse.
just set the epa adjustment for reverse so it’s only just engaged at full throw of the trigger. voila! poor man’s brake!:smiley8: :8ball:

    hi there, welcome!:smiley10:

it might not be the answer you’re after but i’d suggest looking at the tiny micros like zip zaps, bit char g and other types of 1:64 rc’s.
they’re unlikely to break during normal (and even abnormal) useage.
they’re a whole lotta fun, it’s how most of us got into rc:topstuff: :8ball:

the bdo has long since been sold by ken and viviene, they’re just employees now.
2 of the big acts pulled out at the last minute so they had to get henry rollins in.
this year looks so bad it’s the first year i’m not gonna work there!

if you do go hang out with greg, christo and duckpond at the lilypad. there’s always something good on there.
if “the twits” do a set, be sure to get a front row seat to enjoy disapointment!:big: :8ball:
