hmmm, these sound interesting!:p:8ball:
i finally got this sucker on a track and the results are exellent! it slid around at first so i changed tyres and it hung on beautifully. the power transfer is phenomenal, it went uphill almost as fast as downhill!:p nothing impressive on the speedo, 34kph but it’s all transfered to the wheels on the ground. i didn’t like the atomic can so i got another s03 into it and used the 11t gearset. i could even go higher, there’s still torque to spare!
of course i tested to destruction! by the end of the night there was an obvious meshing issue after a hard knock and after taking it apart i found a broken motor mount. i got spares so it’s up and running again with some minor reinforcing (2 washers).
so compared to my old i waver z 01 the xmod is a total winner on all counts.
speed/torque: just as good as as the ol iw
handling: superb! goes exactly where you point it and holds on tight
durability: this thing is like an armoured pitbull! i sliced through z beams mr01 with barely a scratch! (sorry dude!:dead:) i’d be confident to race this on a track full of z destroying 1:10’s!
weight: the hopped up 01 weighed in at 220g with batts and body. the gt40 x waver? 197g.
so i finally got a 1:28 racer that’s tough enough for me and that can cut it with the big boys!:8ball:
well if it was a race day it must have been way early! kitsune arrived at about 4 and there was no one there until about 7 when z beam, ph2t and myself arrived. daylight savings rocks!:D we got some good driving in and poor ol zb got a taste of melbourne when i sliced through his z with the xmod!:dead:
the camaro looks hot in person, luckily it didn’t get track time!
so it was a good day, it’s always fun to meet an interstate member. hopefully we can get together again some time:smiley16::8ball:ua’s gittin itchy again!!:D
do it man, lotsa fun. now that i’m more familiar with my 1:10 all that other stuff i’ve learnt with rc finally falls into place.:8ball:
kerosene, snailpace, thanks heaps for the reviews:smiley2:
man, i care sooooo little about the cars themselves! that tx is heading my way asap! ima gunna get me an iw02, bargain! all i want is the tx and rx, the rest is just like a freebie!:D:8ball:
if it was an accident then she got owned large and i’m pissin’ meself!:D
but if they did it on purpose then they’re bastards! but i’m still laughing!:D:8ball:
thanks to daylight savings it will be light til about 8:30 and i’m guessing we’ll be there still! so if you’re free then head on down!:smiley2:
z beam’s coming around to my place (camberwell) at about 2, anyone is welcome but you gots to pm to get my address, i’ll be online tomorrow (dang! i mean today!)so i’ll check my pm’s:8ball:

sorry none yet. but i don’t think they’re needed, it’s just too easy!
step 1: tricell (or quadcell) or lipo your mt
step 2: remove the stock pcb
step 3: solder the motor wires to the motor terminals on the iwaver pcb
step 4: solder the power wires to the iwaver pcb
step 5: solder the steering motor (on the monster) wires to the same place that the servo motor was attached on the iw pcb
step 6: remove the servo pot (variable resistor) from the iw pcb and replace it with a fixed value resistor with a value somewhere in the middle of 0ohm – 5kohm
step 7: center the steering trim on your tx and fiddle with the steering trim on the pcb until it is centered and not twitching much
step 8: go back to the steering trim and adjust it until the steering stops twitching.and that’s it! you will still hear occasional twitching and when you pick it up the steering moves a tiny bit as a result of this twitch but on the ground it makes no difference.
all i wanted was propo throttle, i expected the steering to be all or nothing like a bit but i’m amazed at how well the whole thing turned out. seriously do it, and you’ll see what i mean:smiley2:
i will get pics when i get hold of the camera:8ball:
fyi, i get the link in the first post:8ball:
THE FREAKIN TRANSMITTER!!!
FERCHRISSAKES! SOMEONE PLEASE TELL US ABOUT THE TX!!!!:D:8ball:
if you luck out on the original parts try a model railway, boat or plane oriented hobby shop. they usually have a large selection of tiny screws. or you could ask a watch repairman if he hasv anything that will help:8ball:
i bought the decal paper at the lhs and used the home ink/bubble jet printer. i needed to seal the decals after printing so the dry ink wouldn’t rub off. after i applied them and finished the detail i use krylon triple thick crystal clear for the clear coat and as the name suggests it goes on nice and thick and conceals decal lines well.
thanks bh, i was lost for ideas on the rear part! i used the interior of a diecast for the seats and dashboard but nothing really grabbed me for the rear. but i can add anything in the future:D
the irony is, after installing the iwaver pcb this shell no longer fits on the monster:approve::8ball:
mine are still going, they don’t have the punch of a jap batt but they kick way better than powertech’s:8ball:
all the vents were filled. those side vents would be perfect with a rear mounted motor but as the xmod motor sits in the middle vents up front are the most functional position. and i love ventilating my cars:D:8ball:
the smart money says don’t let me near it!:dead::8ball:
newsagents:8ball:
i’m pretty sure rs is the only official retail outlet for xmods and zip zaps:8ball:
well i was gonna answer but i’m fulla crap remember?!:smiley2:
i’m pretty sure all available i wavers (excluding the iw00) use the same pcb so i’d say yes:8ball:
nice job on those rims, i’d be too scared to try that for fear of killing my precious alloys!:dead::8ball:
man, that thing looks great going nowhere! you’re turning into ausmicro’s best kept secret!:smiley2::8ball:
i saw an xray clock 77kph on panda’s radar gun. and it took the corners well too:8ball:
actually you did! i can’t believe the amount of filth that turns up in a google image search!:8ball:
i don’t think we got them yet but i’ve noticed ads on telly for the originals. so they might expand the range if the originals take off:8ball:
go hard son!!:8ball:

chitty chitty bang bang
the munsters rod

christinei know they’re a bit obscure but maybe it gives you a different perspective:8ball:
