hell yeah betty! looks awesome indeed!!!

glad to see those rims get used, its been such a long time since i customised a bit dang… i miss the little projects.

ive been lugging around some warhammer kits with me on my travels lately to work on, rather than car stuff as i can paint them in a motel room without someone thinking im suss *grin* but the bit bodies need some more lovin!

so my knife might rusty (ol faithfull) but it aint dusty. time to pull out the bits’n’peices and come up with something i reakon. the warhammer cheese squad can wait a bit longer…

if your going to jump it be carefull, that front gearbox if it takes a few hits will cause you poblems.

have you had a go with the diff lock? i keep mine permanantly and it has no problems breaking traction on most surfaces with the neo magnet motor (warm one Aaron is talking about).

i have had the most fun with the overlander personally. ive taken it interstate and nothing handles going for a walk than an overlander. if it wasnt for the ammount of traveling i do i would have to say AWD all the way.

you havent really had enough fun with a z till youve driven an overland down a beach. make sure the sand is slightly damp and the tide is going out. install soft springs all round for some wild trail driving.

seeing 10 cm plumes of sand kicking out the back at full throttle is awesome. just make sure you strip down the entire car and clean it afterward.

the body tag sounds like it broke, its a simple glue job. when working with my overland i tend to use a mix of super glue and plastic glue, but just super glue will do.

ball bearings are the really needed next part, youll get a far better feeling out of the car with them as they like to roll on a bit after powering which adds to the handling i think.

the warm motor of my choice is the speedy nm. its powerfull and punchy and wont need any turbo modding. if your lucky you might even get one with bearings in the motor.

the NM in the motor discription stands for neo-magnets. these are stronger than regular black ferrite magnets and so the feilds inside the motor are stronger, giving it more kick. ((i might be slightly off here guys, correct me please!)). having that extra punch gives the overlander way more versatility on terrain. flat out reverse to forward makes it wheel stand no sweat.

also, consider stainless pins for suspension and steering if you do like to use yours outdoors (where it should be!).

you can see pics of the knock around H-1 hummer i did for mine in the gallery.

yeah, we’re mostly mini z here. mainly because we don’t have anything like your radio shacks here. and the rc’s they sell are nowhere near as sophisticated as xmods, think “nikko”:D

i used to have xmods and race them on large and small tracks, once dialed in they put up a damn good fight against a mini z!

and in a collision the xmods win every time! :8ball:

i can testafy to the collision thing… betties basher ran up the bum end of my stationary beloved 01 wrx. the xmod kept going full tilt down the streight. my mini-z went fluing and broke a body clip and a knuckle… those things when hopped up and tuned right are beastly.

you could lay wax streight onto cement i reakon also. wax might be a good way of smoothing out small imperfections in the cement as well.

but yeah, not much survives outside.

its a nice sized yard ill testafy to that, and your a lucky bastard having that sized cement patch guys to muck around on. ive been solowly working on convincing the missus we “need” a big patch of grey down the back…

nice vid there ph2t, any chance of getting the awd’s specs listed here? im interested in the tires information e.t.c

im dead keen on making a stock (no fet upgrades) cement drifter without using those “drift” tires.
